A look back at the people, places and moments that have shaped our journey. ✨
Founded in 1983 in a converted fruit packing facility, Second Harvest has grown from its humble beginnings into a leading force providing nourishing food to our Orange County community.

We’re proud to share this recent article published by the @ocbizjournal and co-authored by our CEO, Claudia Bonilla Keller, and Mark Lowry, director of the OC Food Bank at @cap_oc .
The article explores the broader economic impact of proposed CalFresh cuts and why ensuring consistent access to nutritious food matters not only for families, but for the strength and stability of our entire community.
At a time when more Orange County community members are turning to our Partner Network for support, these conversations are more important than ever.
Thank you to OCBJ for helping spotlight this critical issue.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Access to nutritious food supports more than physical health. It strengthens overall well-being and plays an important role in mental health.
When community members have consistent access to fresh, nutritious food, it can help reduce stress, support stability and create a stronger foundation for both body and mind.
At Second Harvest, that connection is at the heart of our work across Orange County, helping ensure community members have the nourishment they need to thrive.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 8th Annual Harvesters Innovative Service Award, presented with @citynationalbank , a dedicated @harvestersoc partner! 🌱
This year, @northorangecc , @ocfirstassembly , and @orangewoodfoundation were selected for their outstanding commitment to serving vulnerable populations with dignity and respect. The organizations received funding to further implement the Client Choice model at their food distributions, giving community members the dignity to choose the food that is right for them and their families. We are so grateful for the partners who make our work possible.

Second Harvest Food Bank was on the road again earlier this week in Washington, D.C. to attend the @fracgram 's Anti-Hunger Policy Conference. Advocates from across the country came together to connect on issues that affect not only food banks, but the people we serve as well.
Following the conference, Orange County's two food banks met with our Congressional leaders, including @reploucorrea , @repdavemin , @repderektran , @repyoungkim , @replindasanchez and @repmikelevin , to discuss protecting SNAP and other federal food programs that so many of our community members rely on. It is vital to advocate for those experiencing food insecurity, and we appreciate the willingness of our elected leaders to engage in these important conversations.

A month on a fixed income can go fast.
Costs for things like utilities, insurance, rent or mortgages, transportation and prescriptions are non-negotiables that often take up the majority of a senior’s budget.
Food is often the last on the list of priorities, so meals may get smaller, skipped or stretched.
This is where Second Harvest Food Bank steps in.
With your support, seniors have reliable access to nutritious food, so they don’t have to sacrifice their health to make ends meet.

The Second Harvest’s Walk to Feed OC at Tanaka Farms brought the community together to raise funds supporting food-insecured families in Orange County.
It’s truly inspiring to see everyone who walked, donated, or showed support for this important cause. If you’d like to help combat hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank welcomes volunteers year-round to help make a difference.
