Saturday March 14th marks the 20th Anniversary of North America's longest running platform celebrating the talented voices of our brave and courageous female spoken word artists.
In support and celebration of International Womens Day, WHEN SISTER'S SPEAK once again returns to the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts - 27 Front Street East for what promises to be another powerful edition with 6 talented women sharing their poetry and magic with us all.

This plaque has the names of Canadian Spoken Word legends. Championship teams & Poets of Honour. The dons that have come before and paved a way for all those who will come. Last weekend the @upfromtheroots squad (minus our fearless leader @dwayne_morgan ) went to feature at Guelph Poetry Slam (Guelph was also where we won our championship) & the legend that is Truth Is... handed us this piece of history. I talk a lot about the wrongs I’ve experienced at the hands of the national slam community. The hurt mostly stems from the admiration I have for this beautiful form that saved my life & is my cultural inheritance. But when your OG steps to you to talk love & community, you listen. You appreciate all she has done for you. You remember what is possible & you remember all the friends who are like family scattered across the country.
Shout outs to our amazing crew of poets and organizers who put in hours upon hours to bring you all the slams, showcases, workshops and school gigs to spread the amazing art form of spoken word in Toronto and beyond.
With our founder @davidsilverberg stepping down from organizing and the incredible Charlie Petch @sawpoet also leaving TPP (but not our hearts) we will forever be grateful for your tireless work.
