I wanted to make a post where I’m not trying to convince anyone to buy or listen to something or tell you about something artistic I’m working on. I needed a break from that. To feel like I’m outside the rat race when I log on.
So here’s little snippets of my life. A family trip to Costa Rica, staying overnight in the hospital when my brother had emergency surgery (he’s okay), sweating at the gym, dressing for brick weather, my loved ones hanging out with my daughter. I’ve been living my life and trying to grow my capacity to show up in it.
I hope you’re doing okay. I haven’t really been around for my people the way I would like to be. I don’t organize my life the best, but I am trying my best to catch the glimpses you all share & let you know you’re seen. Thank you for seeing me, be myself, even if it’s just a little bit. This is an attempt to shake some perspective awake. This footage doesn’t fit on your phone screen the way it was shot. It was shot on cameras, on purpose, with a lens that was made for horizontal viewing. We generally are meant to see things in this fashion. Our field of vision is wide & watching all of our videos in a vertical format narrows our focus to the shape of our phones. It limits the amount of information we absorb visually. We get literally get a less full picture.
I am not a conspiracy theory type of guy, but I do like social analysis. I do think in the meta & the abstract, constantly trying to connect realities. I think, in a sick & covert way, we are being told to narrow our focus without purpose. To find niches that please us to watch, but not to engage with meaningfully. We are being conditioned into seeing things from a limited perspective, to accept it, without looking at the bigger picture.
I would like to encourage you to think big. Stretch your field of vision. Life, like this footage, is more beautiful that way. Sometimes it is more difficult to hold all at once, but we can’t live lives true to ourselves, without knowing.

I don’t like posting in vague phrases to give ideas about what’s going on in my life, but when I wrote this song I was thinking about people around me moving very very WEIRD. When I tell people the stories, their jaws drop & most can’t wrap their minds around it. I had to put some of that energy somewhere, and I gave some of it to CHEAT CODE.

I haven’t left any piece of myself behind. Skills are transferable and experience colours perspective. I pull traditions I no longer practice into the present day when they serve the moment I am living in. Nothing is useless. Everything you have ever been is valuable, even if just as cautionary tales. If you are a fellow writer, I would encourage you to look at the universe as an extension of yourself today. Not the universe in the spiritual, grandiose, cosmic sense, but the literal physical universe. The atoms that make up all matter, from the phone in your hand, to a child being born across the globe, to Pluto. Remember that the majority of the universe exists with the same elemental building blocks you do. Think about how much you have in common with it all, and how your ability to perceive and articulate what you sense around you is a gift, not a curse. You aren’t insignificant. You are a witness & translator of all things that cannot speak. There is meaning in what you do. Don’t fear it. Approach it with confidence & excitement.
