From T Magazine: Our latest Travel issue explores how baked goods tell the story of culture across the globe. For the covers, we commissioned three artists to make original works. The Hudson Valley, N.Y. artist @sharon.core ’s cover depicts French strawberry chou au craquelin. She also used the pattern of powdered sugar dusted atop the cream puff to create her take on the T logo. “I liked how the granules of sugar related to film grain or pixels in photography,” she says. @tmagazine @normajeanmarkus #sharoncore

My show “Sharon Core: 1606 to the Sixties” is installed and on view until February 1, 2026 at the Hyde Collection @hydecollection in Glens Falls, NY. Huge appreciation to Derin Tanyol @derintanyol for her expert curation of works from the last 22 years of my practice. I’ll be giving a talk on Thursday 10/16 at 6:00 pm.

Art that is deep, and true, like how what’s dark and hidden in nature is captured in Sharon Core’s series Understory. Core was inspired by the forest floor paintings of Otto Marseus van Schrieck when she created a living ecosystem in her studio to create these incredible pictures. Sharon Core, Untitled #3 from the series Understory, 2015, archival pigment print, 31 x 25 in, Edition of 7 Care of @yanceyrichardsongallery @sharon.core Otto Marseus van Schrieck, Three snakes, lizard and toad, 1663, oil on canvas, 24 x 20 in Private Collection

“Facsimile: Irving Penn, Flowers, 2025” is a replica of a book of photography by Irving Penn published in 1985. To create this object, I painted all of the photographs and hand lettered all text. These were then photographed and designed exactly like the original book. I printed out each page and and bound the book like the original including embossing on the cover. My name is nowhere in the book itself. I see this as a sculptural multiple, a three dimensional representation in an edition of 7. It is the centerpiece of my exhibition currently on view at @yanceyrichardsongallery until April 12. There is a handling copy available to peruse as well as an installation of unique paintings and lettering made in the process. #irvingpenn #sharoncore #irvingpennflowers
