Our second annual Art in Bloom event was a success, and we are so grateful to the 15 local floral designers who gave their time and talents to make it possible. Congratulations to Lanette Bowman, The Plant Doctor, on winning this year’s Art in Bloom Visitor’s Choice Award! Lanette’s design was located in Hyde House Courtyard and inspired by Dale Chihuly’s vibrant glasswork with an arrangement that included Birds of paradise, Red Ginger Flowers, Oncidium Orchids, Curly Willow, Philodendron, and Pincushion Protea.

Join us for a unique collaborative event celebrating art, film, and music. This special afternoon features a screening of the acclaimed film “Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light,” followed by an audio presentation of the very first commission from the Lake George Music Festival back in 2013—Brendan Faegre’s powerful work of the same title. In addition, this event will feature a conversation with film makers and the composer.

On May 21 at 6 pm, explore the life of Toshiko Takaezu with a panel of experts at The Hyde Collection.
Moderated by Hyde Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Derin Tanyol, this discussion will examine Takaezu’s body of work, focusing on the artworks currently on display in the exhibition “Toshiko Takaezu: Voices of Abstraction” currently on view at the Museum.

Join us today, May 14, between 10 am and 12 pm for a celebration of artwork and culinary arts at Seasoned, the @sunyadk Culinary Arts Center on Hudson Ave in Glens Falls! Featured artists and educators from The Hyde Collection’s Hyde & Seek program will be on site to share the culmination of many weeks of hard work.
The artwork that is part of this pop-up showcase is the product of a 12-week course with individuals supported by @aimservices.inc and @communityworkindependence . During this class, participants explored creative self-expression under the guidance of Janek Palat and Toni Nastasi.
Refreshments will be provided by Seasoned. Thank you to SUNY Adirondack, Seasoned, and The Dake Foundation for Children for their support and partnership in the Hyde & Seek program.
Each year, the High School Juried Show reminds us just how much talent, creativity, and passion our young artists bring to this community.
We are proud to celebrate these students and provide a space where their work can be seen, encouraged, and valued. Experiences like this help inspire the next generation of artists, thinkers, and creators.

We’re excited to welcome the renowned Modernistics Trio to The Hyde this Sunday, May 17 in celebration of our forthcoming exhibition “Wings and Wilderness: Birds and Landscapes of the Northeast,” opening in June.
Hailed as “absolutely joyous, virtuosic and wonderful” (Concerts at the Crane), The Modernistics Trio (Ted Powers, vocals, tap-dance, harmonica, banjo, and guitar; Peter H. Bloom, flute; and Dave Zox, double-bass) will celebrate our feathered friends with exuberant songs, tap-dance numbers and swinging instrumentals.

Learn the art of drawing animals by starting with the fundamentals!
On May 30, join award-winning artist David Globerson to break down complex animal forms into simple shapes and build drawings step by step. This class is a great introduction to essential drawing techniques that can be used in future classes, including pet portraiture. All materials are provided, and all skill levels are welcome.

Today (May 10) is our LAST day for Art in Bloom at The Hyde Collection this year!

Art in Bloom begins today, and we’re celebrating beauty and creativity all weekend long!
Join our next adult class on Saturday (5/9) from 10:30 am - 1 pm, where participants will create their own floral-inspired greeting cards. Using watercolors and Prismacolor colored pencils, class members will finish two notecards, each featuring a vibrant bouquet in full bloom.
