The renovated Heritage Green celebrates the diverse stories of the people of Waterloo past, present and future. At the centre of this space you can find the #HeartOfUptown, designed and fabricated by @boko.ca , which represents unity and belonging. This project was implemented to commemorate the @UptownWaterloo BIA’s 50th anniversary, and was made possible in collaboration with @citywaterloo . Landscape architecture by @shiftland and the colourful bistro tables were supplied by @parkstreetinc and @victorstanleyllc

Adding colour is an important theme of the Uptown Waterloo Placemaking Strategy. This photo is a perfect example of how colour can bring life and joy to a city even in the coldest days. We were incredibly lucky to commission @stephboutari to create the mural titled ‘Emergent’ - it explores the intertwined relationships between nature, built form and technology. Combined with other elements such as banners (designed around the @uptownwaterloo brand) and seasonal decorations, we are creating a new Uptown experience. #UptownExplorer
This beautiful garden outside the former Carnegie Library in @uptownwaterloo is a great example of sustainable landscaping. Native and pollinator-friendly plants provide habitats and food sources for wildlife. They also require little maintenance and are drought tolerant, making them perfect to plant in our own gardens 🌿🌼🦋
