🌱 Our community is our strength. Envigorate is just around the corner and this community festival is always a clear reminder that meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when we work together, blending perspectives across disciplines, sectors and communities. 💚 #UWaterloo #Community #WorkTogether

Welcome back to campus! Next time you’re in EV1, take a moment to admire the new mural across from the Ecology Lab. Designed by Olivia Denny, a #UWaterloo Fine Arts student and one of our former ENV co-ops, it was painted by so many of you during Envigorate to honour this year’s theme showcasing our commitment to working with the world, for the world. #Envigorate #UWaterloo#CampusArt

🎓Graduating students! We’re excited to announce the launch of the Environment Community Impact Award. We want to say thank you to those of you who got involved during their undergraduate journey and helped our Faculty’s community, operations, sustainability or wellness. You made an impact here, and we want to recognize your legacy. This award celebrates graduating Environment students who have given their time, energy, and leadership to strengthen the Faculty community through meaningful involvement beyond academics. Note: This award is applicable to graduating students only. If you are current undergraduate, continue to record your involvement to earn this award in the future! You may have questions about applying for this award, what experiences we’ll accept, and if you are eligible. Our website explains it all (link in bio), and we will also be hosting a virtual drop-in session on May 13 at 12:00-1:00pm to answer any questions you may have! Stay tuned.

📅 Mark your calendar…Waterloo Giving Day is May 21!  There are lots of ways to take part in Giving Day starting now. Play the Giving Day flappy bird or in our case, goose game to help direct funding to causes you care about on campus, grab a Giving Day goose cookie at Food Services locations across campus (including the Ev3rgreen cafe in EV3) with proceeds supporting the Waterloo Fund, and help spread the word. Every action helps build momentum leading up to May 21.  Stay tuned — the countdown starts now. 💚

Global biodiversity is declining, and effective stakeholder engagement can be a critical component in minimizing further damage. Farmers are among the most important voices in this conversation, yet their needs, concerns, and fears are often overlooked or misunderstood. For her Master of Environment and Business capstone, Florencia Panizza analyzed social media and other public communications to better understand how the French agricultural community perceives the European Union’s Nature Restoration Regulation. Her research highlights that farmers do want sustainable agriculture—but they also want to be heard, respected, and supported in the process. “Through the Master of Environment and Business capstone, I was able to explore opposing perspectives and understand the challenges, as well as some strategies for overcoming them,” says Panizza. “The research taught me some valuable lessons about approaches to stakeholder engagement in a sector that was new to me.” Read more about her #GRADimpact at the link in our bio 🔗
