Itâs crazy to me to think about how much my past self would be spinning out over my current self. To see my arms not in a state of frailty. To not being able to wrap my fingers around my wrist with ease. To not being able to see evidence of my skeletal frame...The obsession to be small at any cost consumed and tortured my entire being FOR YEARS. Itâs all I thought about. Itâs the only thing that would determined my mood, my time spent, and my worth. And the fcked up part about it all was that I chalked it up to just trying to be âhealthy.â I was convinced that unless I was my smallest self, which in my mind at the time was my 17 year old selfđŤ (I was in my 20s..), I wasnât healthy. I couldnât be and the shame and guilt of constantly trying to get back there and failing would continue..
Iâve done A LOT of work between then and now. A LOT of unlearning and forgiving. A LOT of realizing that my smallest self at the cost of my mind, body, and soulâs peace isnât healthy at all. The constant shame, guilt, punishment, and belittlement I felt wasnât healthy. It was chaotic and toxic. What IS HEALTHY is being able to appreciate and accept my body in all states. Knowing damn well that she is good enough ALWAYS. That when she is fed adequately, nutritionally and not, exercises with the intention to empower over punish, and continues to challenge self deprecating thoughts with compassion, she is truly in her healthiest era. đ§Ą
