Last month, BA student Victoire Constilieres (@sha.de.c ) was honoured with the Vrienden van het TextielMuseum-Jong Talent Award 2025. @textielmuseum
In autumn 2024, fourth-year BA students at DAE participated in the Textile Focus module, developing projects in collaboration with the TextielLab at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg. This intensive programme centers on research, experimentation, and design, offering students access to a broad range of traditional and contemporary textile techniques and materials. Working with advanced industrial machinery and guided by expert product developers, students create innovative prototypes. They also receive valuable input from the museum’s yarn specialist, curator, and librarian, ensuring a rich and multidisciplinary design process.

Mellow Gates translates wrought iron gates’s patterns into soft but dominating woollen textile doors through felting and weaving, beckoning you to look and walk beyond the fence.

You will be able to interact and read The Disagreements Libraries_Black to White at Helsinki Central Library @oodihelsinki from today to the 26th of April, after which this issue will be donated to the public collection of the Rikhardinkatu Library Artist’s Book Collection. Please come visit of you are in the area!
I am so happy The Disagreements Libraries found its place in this exhibition bringing together publications understanding the book as a bodily, shared action rather than just an object to read. The Disagreement Libraries: Black to White focuses on republishing early-2000s websites addressing Black racial issues in Europe and North America. By dissecting their visual and structural layers and pairing them with contemporary commentary, the project reactivates digital memory in print form.

Mellow Gates - White
A blend of Renaissance and Louis XV fencing styles brings forwards the patterns of scrollwork emulating plants, inviting you to discreetly take a peek through the gaps in the fence, to what might be someone’s secret garden. The floats highlight the ethereal nature of the grand gate, adorning the back of the piece with cloudy strands.

Mellow Gates - Red
Red stands open, visually and physically, inviting the most directly a crossing of the barrier. It communicates an entrance, a delimitation.

Brown mysteriously stands between the viewer and what is beyond, the gap between the drapes enticing them to enter the space, the light shading the wrought patterns.
