@massmocastudios residency headshots by the one and only Thomas Logan!! It was so inspiring to be able to work in the presence of this incredible cohort of artists and in response to the work at @massmoca . Maybe the real art is the friends we make along the way… 💓💓💓

a night of intricate pulsations and crystalized feelings, waiting to be unraveled by the stomping and ethereal soundscapes brought to you by the live sets of o0yu x rOrU (@oyu0k0io , @rod0lfo.rueda a.k.a @ciber1a ), @kazukikoga and Shemona & Robbie Wing (@sh3mona , @wingrobbie ) January 25th at LaSoterranea*
o0yu x rOrU is the multimedia duo project by o0yu (CA/JP) and rOrU (PER). rOrU’s sound works morph between nuanced subtlety and chaotic intricacies. o0yu’s visual imagination blends 3D rendered entities and vlog-like footage. Together, drawing inspiration from their distinct backgrounds, they create immersive performances that resemble imaginary landscapes of altered memories, using different media to build unique storytelling experiences.
Kazuki Koga (JP/CA) is Japanese experimental electronic musician born in Fukuoka, Japan. He is currently based in Montreal, Canada. His music comes from the musical tradition known as GORGE, best described as an experimental and electronic interpretation of rock climbing/mountaineering. Born in the mountains of Nepal and India, and developed in Japan. Gorge is only vaguely defined by its own secret codes and legends. Its purpose is to communicate the aesthetic and spiritual sublimity of rock climbing, and to open up the climbing route that leads to the summit of the gods.
Shemona & Robbie wing are a noise and strings based duo whose work mutually explores material resonance through self contained feedback systems and interference that seek to simultaneously generate and disrupt themselves as the basis for the production of sound.
