We are very excited to announce our Spring 2026 Artist in Residence, Carolyne Loreé! (@__carolyne__ )
Thank you to everyone who applied this round, the applications have been incredible and we hope you will reapply for fall if you believe you will be a good fit here!
Carolyne Loreé Teston is a photographer and performance artist based in NYC.
Her work is anchored in a curiosity of our daily performances and what incentivizes them. A conversation of autonomy is present as she creates imagery that explores the construction of self, specifically in relation to power dynamics of gaze. She teaches a portrait photography workshop, PRISM, in Brooklyn, which centers the ethics of looking and relational exchange in image-making.
“I am a photographer and performance artist based in New York City. My work begins with a curiosity about our daily performances: the subtle negotiations, gestures, and self-presentations that shape how we move through the world. I use photography and performance to examine how the self is constructed, particularly in relation to the gaze and shifting power dynamics between subject and author.”

There are a couple days left to see 𝐸𝓂𝓊𝓁𝓈𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝓉𝑜 𝐸𝓂𝓊𝓁𝓈𝒾𝑜𝓃 with @clubland.gallery in Greenpoint ♥️
This film was made from a surveillance camera recording portrait sessions in my studio, watching the subjects slip in + out of performances of self.

RECIPROCITY

The performance and film Reciprocity explores immediacy of time, image-making as performance, and technology’s influence on self perception. Three performances overlap with one another culminating in a fever-dream featuring a lecture derived from AI on reciprocal light theorem, a woman wrestling with a block of ice while trying to get to a camera frozen inside, and two people mashing faces to transfer clown makeup from one to the other while simultaneously filming themselves. A live-feed projection plays behind them, allowing the audience to see their actions close up.
Thank you so much @funtofuntofunto@savannerrrr@chantalmichelle@yasminmoonmoon@cherry__nin and @joni.c0m for having me ♥️
