What does “design for good” mean to you? Today at the Pixels & Print workshop, we took a moment to listen to different voices in the room. Participants share their thoughts on how design can support communities, tell meaningful stories, and create positive change in both big and small ways. There’s no single definition of “design for good”, it grows from empathy, collaboration, and willingness to imagine something better together! Thank you to everyone who shared their perspectives with us today!!!

On May 10th, I took that walk across the stage, officially graduating from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University with my M.S. in Multimedia, Photography and Design!🎓🎥 It’s wild to think this incredible, intense, year-long journey kicked off just last July.
This program truly challenged me in the best way possible, pushing my creative boundaries and technical skills in cinematography beyond what I thought possible. 🌟 To the incredible professors who just poured into me and always believed in my vision, thank you. I’m forever grateful for every lesson, every critique, and every word of encouragement.
It hasn’t been an easy road. This past year threw some serious curveballs, from having a partial shoulder replacement, multiple hospitalizations, and the loss of my grandma. These challenges took a huge toll, mentally and physically, while I juggled school. But I pushed through.✨
This achievement feels even more significant when we look at the bigger picture. “Black or African American graduates earned approximately 11.3% of all master’s degrees awarded in the U.S.” And best believe, I am so proud to have added to that number. 📈

Dijital medya, görsel hikâye anlatımı ve multimedya haberciliği alanlarında gazetecilere eğitim veren Syracuse Üniversitesi Öğretim Üyesi Seth Gitner, İzmir Gazeteciler Cemiyeti’ne konuk oldu.
İzmir Gazeteciler Cemiyeti Başkanı Dilek Gappi’nin ev sahipliğinde gerçekleşen etkinlikte; gazetecilik mesleğinin yaşadığı dönüşüm, hikaye anlatıcılığının püf noktaları ile dikkat edilmesi gerekenler anlatıldı.
YARATICI DÜŞÜNMEK GEREK
Gazetecilerin mutlaka yaratıcı düşünmeleri gerektiğini söyleyen Seth Gitner, “Öğrencilerimize 10 yıl önce HTML kodlama ve haber yazmayı bilmeleri gerektiğini söylüyorduk. Ancak şu an yaratıcı olmaları lazım, koda ihtiyaçları yok. Yapay zekanın gelişmesiyle birlikte tüm bu detayları öğrenmelerine gerek kalmadı. Artık önemli olan haberi yaratıcı bir şekilde, görsellerle beraber pekiştirerek topluma aktarmak” ifadelerini kullandı.
İNSANLARLA OLAN BAĞLARA ODAKLANILMALI
Anlatılan hikayelerde fotoğrafın da çok önemli olduğunu dile getiren Gitner, gazetecilerin fotoğraf çekerken insanlarla olan bağlara odaklanmaları gerektiğinin altını çizdi. Gitner, tasarımların da hikaye anlatıcılığında çok önemli olduğuna dikkat çekerek, yapay zeka teknolojileri kullanılarak verilerin hızlıca görselleştirilebildiğini ve web sitesi oluşturulabildiğini belirtti.
“YAPAY ZEKANIN DOĞRU KULLANILMASIYLA GERÇEK BİR HİKAYE ANLATICILIĞI MÜMKÜN”
Gazetecilerin günümüz teknolojisine hemen adapte olmaları gerektiğini de hatırlatan Gitner, “Dijitalleşmeyle birlikte önceleri haberlerin web sitelerinde ne kadar okunduğu önemseniyordu ancak günümüzde bireylerin hikayede ne kadar zaman harcadığı önemli hale geldi. Bu açıdan gazeteciler ellerindeki yapay zeka teknolojilerini doğru şekilde kullanırlarsa gerçek bir hikaye anlatıcılığı yapabilirler. Günün sonunda inşa etmek, yapay zekayı kullanmak ve görsellerle izleyicinin deneyimini nasıl daha iyi bir hale getirebileceğimizi ortaya koymak önemli” dedi.
