I am living my best neon quilting life today. I have had this bundle of Spectrastatic for a while, and in an effort to use the good fabric, I decided a little while back just to go for it with an improv quilt. I was worried I wouldn’t love it as much after I quilted it, but I am so excited with how it is coming out. Another UFO down! Nothing about this quilt took very long, but for some reason it sat a long time between each step! I am all out of baby quilts to gift, though, so finally got around to adding the binding. All washed and crinkly cozy, ready for a new little one! This one had mystery red fabric on the back, so I was a little nervous about washing it, but the color catchers only caught a little color, so I won this round of dye roulette! Pattern: Mod Melons by @suzyquilts Fabric: Mystery scraps from my stash Panto: A demo one that came with my Bernina, with no other info.

I have been trying to start the year by finishing out projects that have been sitting, any star spin quilt is now pieced! It is definitely not perfect (the bulky seams started to get to me), but the pattern is so clever and I love the overall effect! Lots of quilting has been going on around here, but not a lot of pictures and posting. I made this bright and happy quilt for my son, who picked the fabrics and helped in his toddler way to complete the project. I got a new quilt machine and have been designing pantographs to use, and I am super tickled by how this one came out. When my son saw his quilt finished he exclaimed “thank you momma, it brings me joy!” I used a bunch of @rubystarsociety charm packs and mini charm packs, and bordered the mini charms with the cherry fabric from the Sugar Cone line to make them 5”.

I got all my checkered garden bee blocks sewn together today! I love how this is is scrappy in a way I never would have achieved myself. When I saw this fabric in the shop all the way back in 2016, it was the best fabric I had ever seen. I bought an excessive amount, and started an improv quilt. I soon realized I did not like how it was coming together, but I loved the fabric so much that I moved it with me (multiple times), and couldn’t let it go. I have been whittling down the rest of the fabric in various projects through the years (all of which bring me joy), but I could never figure out what to do with the improv panel I had started. Recently I realized that what I didn’t like as a quilt would make a great bag, and I had just enough sewn together to turn my longest running UFO into a Doable Duffle. Best idea ever! I still love this fabric, and I am so excited to not feel bad every time I come across it in my stash, and instead get to enjoy using it!
