I joined a #roundrobinquilt bee! I was honoured to add the first border to @seaminglykate block. I enjoyed searching through my scraps for the perfect fabrics. I even used one of my favourite low volume prints, the lemons!!! 🍋 #sewingincirclescollaborative2024

These #checkeredgardenquilt blocks are for @sewometry ! I can’t wait to see Adeline’s completed quilt top. It is going to be amazing! I joined 3 sewing bees this year and it was the best decision. Making for others is the most amazing feeling. 💜 #rssbeehive

#igquiltfest2024 #igquiltfest2024day8 My first quilt made entirely from scraps was the #origamiconfettiquilt by @emiandkostudio I had made plenty of quilts using scraps but never an entire quilt. It was so much fun digging through my scrap bins, pulling out fabrics and all the memories associated with each fabric. If you have never made a scrap quilt before I highly recommend that you do!

#igquiltfest2024 #igquiltfest2024day7 Today’s prompt is lesson learned. The first quilt I made using red fabric bled. Luckily I caught it before the quilt dried and I was able to get it out. Please, please, please always wash your quilts for the first time in cold water and throw in a couple of colour catchers, hell throw in a handful! Better safe than sorry. #longwoodlanesquilt @pins_in_a_blanket

#igquiltfest2024 Why do I quilt? Quilting allows me to take my creative thoughts and make something not only beautiful but useful. It allows me to share my creative process with friends and family so they can ‘see’ how my brain works. One of my nicknames as a child was ‘Spacey Tracy.’ I was often ‘in my own world.’ As an adult I realize I just see the world a little differently than most others. Here’s how my version of @millieandbundesigns pattern #the2537quilt came to be. Buckle up, it is story time. I had been listening to Taylor Swift’s song Lavender Haze and thought what a cool name for a song. I watched the video and the greenish gold shag carpet reminded me of a sofa we had when I was growing up. That led to me looking at photos of bold late 70’s /early 80’s wallpaper. The video and wallpaper helped me choose my bold green, gold and lavender colour palette. Now the sofa also had an interesting texture with lines. I decided to create lines of hand quilting to my mimic this texture. I love when people ask about my quilts because there is always a story to share. #igquiltfestday5

#igquiltfest2024 Yesterday’s prompt was ergo quilter. My top tips are: 1. Counter height cutting tables and standing while sewing will save your back. When I am in my sewing room I rarely sit. 2. Get a design wall. It does not have to be fancy or expensive. It allows you to lay out your blocks without crawling around on the floor. Did you know you can also baste quilts using your design wall? 3. Replace your blades and keep your scissors sharp. This puts less strain on our hands. 4. Move around and take lots of breaks. Sometimes we get in the zone and forget to do this. If it helps, set a timer. ❤️I hope these ideas help. #igquiltfest2024day4

#igquiltfest2024 I have 3 machines that I use on a regular basis. I have a Janome 3060 QDC that I use primarily for FPP projects and a Janome MC 6700P that I use for piecing and quilting. I also have a Babyloc Sashiko machine. This machine is so cool. It only makes Sashiko stitches and is unlike any other sewing machine. I use it for quilting. #igquiltfest2024day3

#igquiltfest2024 I decided to include two photos for day 2’s prompt, Your first quilt. The first photo is of my very first completed quilt top. I took a class from a quilt shop and you had to purchase fabrics from the shop to make your quilt. I couldn’t really find fabrics that spoke to me or really loved. In the end I made a lovely quilt but I don’t love the fabrics, so it remains unfinished. The second photo is of my very first completed quilt. I made it for my horse loving niece’s birthday. I quilted it with a decorative stitch on my domestic machine. I had no idea what I was doing. 😊 The pattern is from @countedquilts #igquiltfestday2
