Sugar Cone 2 by @kmelkight
Sugar Cone 2 is a bit of childhood delight mixed with more grown-up, sophisticated sweets. This collection is a follow up to Kim’s previous Sugar Cone collection, which came out in 2023. For this turn, Kim was inspired by the colorful, mod style of the 1960’s-1970’s.
The collection has assorted gummy candies, enticing Japanese fruit sandwiches, and nostalgic popsicles in a juicy rainbow of hues. Kim’s famous strawberries get a dollop of whipped cream, and her old print called Grid gets a refresh, but this time on point! She envisions paper pieced pictorial blocks with the grid serving as cones, and the sprinkles print becoming ice cream scoops. This collection also features the Ice Cream Man panel, which contains 36 different squares with frozen treats that finish out at 4”.

"Corsage was inspired by the comfortable formality of living and dining rooms of my past. I went to Cooper Hewitt’s Design Triennial last winter, and was touched by the dining room designed by artists Nicole Crowder and Hadiya Williams, which reminded me so much of the dining rooms I’d spent so much time in when I was a kid. These were rooms that were kept clean in case company stopped by, with tables set with the good China for special occasion family dinners. I found black and white photos of my teenage aunts in my Granny’s living room,
dressed in formal gowns and wearing corsages, posing with their prom dates. I thought about the patterns that would have fit in in these settings – as table linens and wallpaper, upholstery and rugs. I designed this collection to evoke those rooms and those treasured family moments."
