On Friday, 5th June vildwerk. was invited to present an entire evening of works by a dynamic lineup of artists and companies, including Bradley Shelver @bradshelver for Joffrey Concert Group @joffreyconcertgroup Jacqulyn Buglisi for Buglisi Dance Theatre @buglisidance , Antonia Franceschi @antoniatow99 for @nytheatreballet Henning Rübsam @sensedancer and others coming together through movement to inspire environmental conservation awareness.

🦋 World Butterfly Day
Today we celebrate the beauty, fragility, and resilience of butterflies — and at @vildwerk we celebrate our own butterfly, the extraordinary dancer Eriko Sugimura @erikosugimura .
In 2024, Eriko performed in Henning Rübsam’s @sensedancer Monarcas alongside ten luminous butterflies — a work inspired by the miraculous migration and vulnerability of monarch butterflies.
Today Eriko is facing a difficult personal journey as she undergoes treatment for cancer. We invite our community to stand with her with the same love and support she has always shared through her artistry.

Migration can be one of nature’s most extraordinary journeys 🧡
Monarcas, choreographed by Henning Rübsam @sensedancer , was created as a tribute to these butterflies and the wonder of their multi-generational journey across North America. The ballet, created on 11 dancers, premiered as part of @vildwerk ‘s inaugural 2024 season.
An opening pas de deux from the work was featured in our 2025 season, performed by Megan LeCrone and Renan Cerdeiro to music by Johann Sebastian Bach (Prelude No. 1 in C Major, BWV 846)
