Hello! Sehn is coming to Punjab 🌼 I (Misbah) will be spending April as an artist-in-residence at Dalan Depalpur, a beautiful new arts and learning center in the Punjabi countryside that is rooted in traditional pedagogy.
During my residency, I’ll be teaching pottery workshops to children and young women. We will be working with local clay and using historical firing techniques. While the program is oriented towards locals, if you’re interested in joining us, send us a dm!
We had a lovely autumn session creating South Asian ceramic tiles in collaboration with @sehn__studio 🏺
The preservation and celebration of the intricate tilework that has lasted centuries is close to our heart. Blending these traditional motifs with contemporary design is a way for us to bring these art forms to a new audience, so we really hope you enjoyed learning and creating something new 🏺

we suggest pieces made of cotton, linen, denim, or other thicker fabrics, and lighter colours as they hold patterns and colour better than dark fabrics.

This hands-on workshop invites you to explore the rich world of South Asian tile painting, with a focus on Islamic, Mughal, and Arabesque tile painting. These art forms are celebrated for their intricate patterns, thoughtful symmetry, and timeless beauty.
We’ll begin by tracing the historical and cultural journeys of these art forms, from the Indus Valley civilization to post-colonial patterns. Guided by gentle instruction, you’ll then bring your own interpretation to life on custom clay tiles, blending traditional motifs with contemporary design. Each piece will be yours to take home, a personal keepsake that carries the essence of centuries-old artistry into the present.

Over the summer, Sehn teamed up with @whippersnappergallery ’s PEERs program, offering a space and guidance for Fatin (@fatinich ) and Anelia (@aneliavictor ) to work on their upcoming exhibition. After several weeks of dedicated effort, “Solidarity Seeds” is now showing at Arcadia Gallery. 🌻 They have an artist talk on Wednesday and I hope to see you there!!
