Various ceramics, wood-fired earthenware
+ a few moments from the later half of my residency at @dalan_depalpur . So grateful to be able to engage with the community of this historic village and work with natural materials from the local ecology.
Bit of my residency so far @dalan_depalpur , learning and teaching pottery to the community with the help of local Kumhars (traditional potters). Together we sourced raw clay, processed it into a workable medium and set up a traditional kick wheel. Looking forward to what next week brings.
When I visit I always try to spend some time painting at the house where I was born. This year I painted one of the mango trees that my grandfather planted many years ago.

Took a boat out to an exposed patch of riverbed in the Indus (it’s dry season) to collect some silt. I’m planning to experiment with it as glaze in my ceramic process, along with soil, clay and minerals that I’ve foraged or been gifted on our travels.
Spending this winter on a research trip in Pakistan with the mister @whbutt . He’s studying the rivers, and I clay and craft. It’ll be my first time seeing rural and remote parts of the country. I’m very grateful to be able to do this, and for the welcome break from my routine (I was so burnt out). Here are some moments from our trip so far 🩵 more soon
