My summer was such a whirlwind! I stayed working most of the year (thank god), and after designing my first feature (more details to come), I went up to Telluride for a 5 week Production Apprentice Program working for Telluride Film a festival!
I had a fantastic time making so many new friends from a different side of the film industry, seeing tons of great new films, and enjoying a nice getaway in the utterly gorgeous mountain town of Telluride.

After an intense but fun week knocking out some really rad scenic projects with my ever talented friend and brother @pablo.perea.31 on @tomsegurainsta new comedy feature “El Tigre,” I’m now settled into my new home for the next 5 weeks— TELLURIDE, COLORADO!
I’ll be here working the Telluride Film Festival for its 52nd year making new friends, learning new things, watching lots of films, and enjoying the beautiful town and scenery that has attracted so many people and so many impactful cultural events through the years.

5 weeks or so ago I wrapped an incredibly fun feature, “Pendulum!” I’ve been insanely busy since then and can’t wait to share more details about my experiences working as the production designer on “No Place,” but before all that fun and craziness I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity to work as a scenic painter with some of my best friends @brokebackanna2 Anna and Jonah under the very talented lead scenic @pablo.perea.31
I’m so incredibly grateful to be working during these difficult times for the film industry. All I can say is that the money comes and goes, but there’s nothing more gratifying than making movies with your friends. I can’t share set pics yet, but we’ve got just about everything in between!

Better late than never, but shoutout to my friends and collaborators at @basement_films for the incredibly successful 20th anniversary “Experiments in Cinema” international experimental film festival! It is so essential that this form of media making has ample space to be seen, celebrated, and discussed.
My brain was basically soup after watching so many hours of experimental work, but I greatly enjoyed David Sherman and Rebecca Bartens piece about their legendary stint programming the “Total Mobile Home” micro cinema in San Francisco, Christian Haardts discussion about his organizations ongoing efforts to preserve antiquated media at the Center for Art and Media in Germany, and Ariel Doughertys @mediaequity piece shining a light on unshown 1970’s feminist media.
Looking forward more broadly, this years work by Tommy Becker scratched my dystopian itch, the spectacle of contemporary Japanese moving image artist Takashi Makino @makino_film_art left me utterly dumbfounded, and this years basement films resident artist @jeremy.rourke warmed everyone’s hearts with a sing-along high desert homage which used his own style of animation to tie together some of the very unique found footage from the basement films archive.

It’s always cool to see your name on the big screen, and to see John Malkovich next to anything you worked on! Go see Opus in a theater near you! We had an incredibly tight schedule on this feature, and a very small crew, but we pulled it all off under lead scenic @pablo.perea.31

Some excellent photos of the truly mesmerizing @katarina_monet doing what she does best— captivating the crowd with her stunning allure. I knew from the start of this trash fashion project that I would need a model with an aura of confidence and sophistication that could really help bring my vision to the next level. As a slightly awkward and somewhat introverted artist, I needed a model that could elevate the look for me, and in a sense, let the project speak for itself so I could focus on the tedious creative process involved with this hand woven piece. I’m very grateful Katarina trusted my vision from the outset, and was a generous collaborator who kept her cool and knew how to really work it.

I built a big loom, and I’ve been weaving trash bags into material for a brand new fashion piece that will make its runway debut tomorrow at @meow__wolf as part of @madvandesign “Absolute Rubbish Trash Fashion Show! Hopefully y’all get to see the crazy fun piece I had the privilege of designing for the show, and you can catch the ever stunning @katarina_monet work the runway in this trash art getup!
