Limited offer: Get the Hard Copy of SDGzine #05 on Climate Action
As the world gathers in Brazil for COP 30 — the 30th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference being held between 10-21 November 2025 in Belém in the Amazon region — the stakes have never been higher. This summit will focus on radical climate action, protection of tropical forests, deep emission cuts and justice for Indigenous and local communities.
Addictlab and the SDGzine were selected to be present at COP30’s green zone, but our lack of funds made us not being able to go.
You can browse the SDGzine online for free here https://addictlab.academy/sdgzine05_climate-action/.
But we have a limited print batch! As we print limited copies, we regret the price per magazine to be rather high. By buying the printed edition you not only have a tangible copy of the amazing content people have sent us, but you’ll also support our SDGzine to grow, and become an important voice and documentation tool.

Arakuaa is an open-source machine designed to transform discarded plastic bottles into textile fibers. Through a combination of extrusion and mechanical spinning, it produces threads that can be used for weaving and creating new sustainable materials.
The project started in Bolivia as a response to plastic pollution and the need for innovative circular economy solutions. It also seeks to empower local communities, including indigenous groups, by turning waste into value and promoting sustainable development.
Project by Grecia Shaiel Bello Segovia, a Chevron Fab STEM Fellow who selected Addictlab and the SDGFablab in a project by the Fab Foundation to enhance STEM educationand digital fabrication.
Project on show during the SDG Olympiad (10-12 Oct)

Tomorrow @sdg.solutionspace welcomes the 3rd Hackathon Piaget, dedicated to innovations for teaching and learning, and organised this year by @unigeneve in collaboration with Google Women Techmakers Switzerland. @womentechmakers - Challenge topics will include women and gender issues (SDG 5).
The hackathon is part of the centennial celebration of the International UNESCO International Bureau of Education, which Jean Piaget directed from its inception and for nearly 40 years.
For that reason we turned the SDG Solution Space into an art gallery, showcasing relevant work from our eco system.

Yesterday Lab Day, too. We welcomed students from the International School of Qatar for a whole day of activities. Starting with profiling and talent assessing followed by SDG challenges at the @sdg.solutionspace . Then a discovery and lunch in the amazing ‘Matrix’ building ofc @campusbiotech , after which we took them cross border to learn about Voltaire, and enjoy more of Addictlab’s activities. Always an honour to be allowed to inspire students from different cultures and backgrounds.
Big thank you to our partners from @castrips
For the past four weeks, 19 students from various universities worldwide collaborated with local and global leaders on real-world challenges, developing innovative, team-based solutions using open science methodologies. Although the summer school concluded last week, the work continues as we advance the remarkable initiatives they prototyped.
Today, we want to emphasize the importance of cultivating well-being to enhance the learning experience and outcomes. Ensuring students have fun while co-designing innovative solutions is crucial for driving positive action.
Here's a sneak peek at their engagement and creativity in action!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to @albatross_eu , @4euplus_alliance , Think Swiss, Citizen Science Zurich, and other key partners for helping turn dreams into reality.
Stay tuned as we move forward to the SDG Olympiad in Paris this September! 🇫🇷🏅

🎉 Today is the last day of the 2024 SDG Summer School in Geneva!
This year’s focus is on Planetary Health, highlighting the impact of climate change on human health 🌱🌏
Our diverse group of 19 students from around the world tackled six real-world challenges with innovative, team-based solutions and open sources citizen science 💪💡 These challenges were formulated by expert in the field.
During this month, students had the privilege of visiting some of the most interesting places in Geneva, and participated in Brown Bag Lunch session with key individuals in the fiel of sustainable development and innovation. 🌐🏛️ In addition, students also had the opportunity to relax after a hard day’s work by bonding over fondue, potlucks, picnics, and apéros, forming great memories and stronger friendships. 🥳🫂
This afternoon, our amazing international students will pitch their final solutions and showcase their innovative prototypes to our esteemed jury. Awards and special prizes will be given out to celebrate their hard work and creativity over the past four weeks. 🌍💡🏆
The global winner from each SDG Summer School will advance to Paris to compete for the SDG Olympiad global prize. Next stop, Paris! 🇫🇷🏅
