Students will discover through hands-on experience how technology responds to musical expression in real time. Participants will trigger sounds and beats, shape live audio, and explore Ableton Live. This event is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts. @shesspeaking360

C86’d DIY 19: tomorrow - friday may 8th - we celebrate our eleventh cassette release with Fortress 🖤 This show feels really special to have so many friends playing in one beautiful space - we’ve been watching Gigi from Fortress & Silk grow as musicians over the past three years and go from being opening bands to some of the glue that holds NY & NJ’s underground scenes together.   It’s special to work with @fortressfortressfortress on this cassette edition of “Who Will Dress Our Soldiers?” as they bring a sound that is wise beyond their years drawing on influences from Touch & Go Records and Ebullition equally channeling them into a cohesive thought.  Blurring that line where screamo becomes noise rock well into indie rock while still remaining heaving, driving, and with purpose.   @hello.silkyy are one of our favorite bands to see live & so happy we can call them friends - as they have interwoven singing into the screams they’ve really struck on a sound that is all their own and it gives us chills everytime Pat’s voice rings out. We’re excited to welcome @wincebandnyc and their noisy rock into the C86’d fold with their first appearance at one of our shows & @thevincelombardiquintet (members & x-members of Ultra Deluxe, Mineshaft, Auxiena Saint, and more) bringing sassy dance forward hardcore to open up the show.   C86’d was founded with EMO being the centerpoint and this show brings sounds from all across that venn diagram into one room.  Come dance with us - we hope to see you there. ⛪This week at Stone Circle Theatre⛪ 4/30 7PM Irregulars w/ Some of Mine + Numyn Hot on the heels of completing the upcoming LP Heretic Breaks with Love, Numyn's signature blend of nu-modal crustpop, doug techno, and anarcho-honk finds a fresh suffusion of Punk&Alternative. Some of Mine are a Brooklyn-based trio made up of Alberto Paez on bass and vocals, Aaron Neber on guitar, and Max Horwich on drums. They play a hazy blend of dream pop, noise rock, shoegaze and no wave, with earthy undertones of 90s college radio and floral notes of 60s wall-of-sound pop music. Irregulars is a duo comprised of Ezra Tenenbaum and Christian Michael Filardo. Gia Margaret didn’t find herself until she lost hers. With a vocal injury that kept her from singing for years, she developed other musical languages, mastering the grammar of an intricate, homey form of ambient music pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. Now, her physical voice healed and her artistic voice honed, she comes full circle with Singing, her first vocal album since 2018’s There’s Always Glimmer. Brendan Eder is a Los Angeles composer and drummer best-known for his eponymous genre-bending ensemble of woodwinds, drum set, and bass. Fortress features former members of one of our fav NY bands of the past couple years - BLOUSE 🖤 Who better to join them than their NYC besties @hello.silkyy ! Seeing this band evolve their sound over the years has been so incredible with every performance showcasing a new take on their sound. You know them, you love them, you always want to see them! A band that came onto our radar a few years ago with their full length release, @wincebandnyc is truly like no other. Weird classical stylings mixed and mashed up with an almost shoegaze atmosphere, creates a style of noise rock that we’ve been dying to see live! Kicking off the night, the “working class sass” of @thevincelombardiquintet will kick you in the teeth and make you laugh at the same time. Dance punk that got so messed up by the San Diego scene that we aren’t sure what happened! Sha La La is an NYC artist known for bands YHWH Nailgun, Peace Thru Strength, and Adoration. He will be performing solo with acoustic guitar and Macbook Air. A longtime member of Brooklyn avant-rock and chamber-pop ensemble Sloppy Jane, Sean Brennan has been a fixture of the Brooklyn scene for the past 7 years.
