Honored to have written and produced this workplace thriller, “The Memo”, inspired by the bestselling book by the one and only, @mindaharts who wrote a masterpiece that has mirrored the horrifying experiences of so many women in corporate America and beyond. All made possible by the visionary that is @valeisha whose infectious energy and “make it happen” spirit truly ignites everyone around her! I’m so glad @chrishicks_ introduced us, thank you Yoda! @kylapratt , @tiffanyblackness , and @jarrenmichelefahey , y’all gave major BIG 3 energy, bringing the characters to life so perfectly. The talent, the beauty, the techniqueeee. *chefs kiss* @shanayjc , the logistics queen, I LOVE working with you for too many reasons to count but one of the reasons is due to your commitment and thoroughness. You’re sharp, you’re meticulous, and you always aim to take care of your crew! @vannadoesitwrite , you zone in and do what you need to do. Nipsey spirit. Kobe focus. You’re a true servant of story and you make no excuses! @samshotit.rentals , you always show up when I call no matter how wild the goal is and you always bring a gang of loyal hardworking teammates along with you! Last week was such a dream! I sat down with Mara Brock Akil to review and discuss what I worked on while I was an Artist in Residence at The Writer’s Colony. 🌸 As someone who often jokes that this is a MBA stan account (iykyk), I found it incredibly ironic that we’d be reading and discussing my dark comedy pilot which dives into stan culture, celebrity worship, and the psychological concept of parasocial relationships. It felt so refreshing to lean into story in the way that we did, to dissect my process, to exchange so much yummy creative energy. ✨ Thank you to my tribe for showing up for me.
