I tell my son all the time how fortunate he is to have his mom. She approached parenting in ways I could never imagine. So much of what you see in him is because of her. She’s the best I’ve seen at this parenting thing.🙃❤️

Man young fella. Such an amazing journey this has been. Being your dad is easily my proudest accomplishment ever. I put these photos up here to remind YOU just how far you have come. How you have faced your challenges head on and figured out how to get to the other side while maintaining every single aspect of yourself that makes you the remarkable human being you are. Keep pushing son, it’s all coming together.

25 years ago BCox came to Noontime trying to get on. I don’t even think he could produce songs at that time. He just wanted to be around the music and people who were creating it. So much so he offered to engineer sessions to start the process of aligning with the company. We paid him a little bit of money here and there, and then he had a radical idea! “You don’t have to pay me anymore to engineer just give me studio time in exchange for engineering.” He had a vision for himself. Blessed with church honed piano skills and with the help and tutelage of @teddyalexanderbishop@jazzepha@kdhguitars and the songwriting of @therealjohntaaustin something amazing happened. He went onto produce, on his own and with his mentor @jermainedupri (🐐#1 on this list), what would be come a soundtrack of a generation. You’ve come a long way BMC!! Proud to have played a small part in this accomplishment and beyond proud of you.

THE WIRE, AVON & MARLO.
In homage to HBO presentation of The Wire this week I thought I’d play one of my absolute favorite scenes between Avon & Marlo. Avon Barksdale had the west side of Baltimore on lock until his partner Stringer lost his way leaving an opening for Marlo to outmaneuver him for the territory. The best TV ever made.

This photo above was the moment before @iamdesibanks@champwroteit walked into BET, as writers with NO NETWORK EXPERIENCE, and did a 21 minute pitch from memory and sold their show - IN THE ROOM. Personally is was a rewarding feeling to help Champ develop and sell his first show as he’d helped me develop and sell mine. @coachk44@hueyfreemansuncle@qcmceo_p@oronde@michaelc0llins_ all worked together to move the needle on this. Teamwork.
