When @jamilcrews called me early in the morning and said, “Sis, I need you,” I was on my way to Toronto to enjoy my birthday. But before I left, I said, “Okay.”
There are moments when you have to show up for your people, and this was one of them.
I pulled up just in time to moderate the conversation with @valeisha and as soon as I walked in and spoke with her, the energy was already connected. I knew right away we were about to have a good conversation.
And Valeisha held nothing back.
She was open, honest, candid, and dropped so many gems. Instantly, I believe she freed so many of us in that room who have ever had the cloud of the “D word” hovering over us: divorce.
The perspective she gave on living through it, healing through it, being a woman through it and still choosing to follow your dreams, pivot when life shifts, think outside the box, and know that it’s all okay was powerful.
To still decide to become the best version of yourself despite life’s obstacles… that’s the real work.
That conversation was for every woman in the room who needed to hear it.
Thank you, Valeisha, for being open, candid, and always you. I’ve been carrying that conversation with me ever since.

The portrait unveiling that took place yesterday evening for my dad was a moment that I’ll carry with me for a lifetime, and pass to my children.
More than 200 family members, guests and members of Congress came together to witness the portrait and celebrate the man, now cemented in history for centuries to come.
I’ve watched him lead with quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a deep, unshakable commitment to people. No shortcuts. Just the work, done consistently and with dignity.
To see that legacy honored in such a powerful way… it meant everything.
I’m beyond proud. And deeply grateful to call him my father.
