Last week we hosted a unique edition of Set Ready as part of Discover Young Hackney, especially for trainees aged 18-26. Big thanks to the trainees for being so engaged and keen to learn, and to @projectrnz for being our special Q&A guest. Shoutout to an unsung hero of Hackney filmmaking 🗣️🎥 If you’ve filmed on the De Beauvoir Estate over the years, your shoot would have been made possible in no small part by Housing Officer Martin Waller. As Martin takes his well-deserved retirement, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate a fantastic colleague who has supported 100s of shoots on the estate. A true friend to filmmakers, he always went above and beyond to help us turn the ambitious plans of productions into a reality. For so many, Martin will always be synonymous with the De Beauvoir Estate and will be sorely missed!  On working with so many filmmakers over the years, Martin said: ‘The role of Housing Officer is varied and challenging. One of the more interesting parts has been working with TV and film production companies filming on the estate. Over the years I have had the joy of assisting Screen Hackney and a variety of productions, from smaller independent films like ‘Rocks’ to major Hollywood blockbusters. Having an in-depth knowledge of the estate and all its nooks and crannies has definitely helped and it has been a pleasure playing a part in helping filming run smoothly on the estate.’ Thanks for everything Martin and enjoy your well-earned retirement! 🎉🙌🎉 📸 @raffaella.lobb
