After completing his Set Ready training before Christmas, Dawid said that the course had been "informative and dynamic" in preparing him for a new challenge. Fast forward to now, and Dawid is putting his newfound confidence into practice on paid placements. This is the reality of what our training can do! Swipe to see a staple on any set, where VERY early mornings are often the norm! ➡️☕😏

📋 Post-placement interview 📋 TRAINEE: Alexandria Singh PLACEMENT: 'Mechanical' S4 SET READY COHORT: North London After her initial placement on Mechanical, Alex was asked back to work until they wrap! We caught up with her to hear what it takes to make such a brilliant impression: Q: So, Alex, how does someone stand out as a Location Marshal? A: Be attentive, communicate clearly, always put yourself forward for any task. You could be by the monitors in video village watching a scene take place one minute and then litter picking the next. Be approachable and friendly and make your presence known on set. Q: And what have you been enjoying most about your placement on Mechanical? A: Honestly, the whole vibe on set. Its fascinating to see all the equipment, how they light a shoot, how many people are actually involved in what could be 3 seconds of screen time but the actual preparation and detailing that goes into creating cinema. Meeting new people and the networking opportunities. Everyone, regardless of department is in the same boat as you one way or another; they’re here to make something and want to be a part of it. So we all have that one thing in common. Q: Speaking of things in common, we have a feeling you'll have valuable advice for trainees about to go on their first placements... A: Have a great attitude, invest in good trainers/boots and comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty! Stretch before your shift and soak it all in. No two days are alike, every set and team are different and have different methods on how they work so being adaptable is an advantage. If you’ve had an office job and haven’t done any physical work, lift some weights so it’s not a shock to the system when you need to carry heavy equipment. Q: Positive and practical, we love it. Well done on all your hard work and for being such a great ambassador for Set Ready Training! ___________________________________ #SetReady #careergoals #workinfilm #tvset #HETV #behindthecamera #onset #locationmarshals #successstories #careerdevelopment #appleTV

🪜 Here's one of our alumni putting a beautifully literal spin on the phrase "career ladder" at her first paid placement! 📋 Post-placement interview 📋 TRAINEE: Sandra Balabas PLACEMENT: Supacell SET READY COHORT: East London Q: Congrats on your successful placement, Sandra! Now that you've been on set, what would you say are the most important qualities of a Location Marshal? A: Being responsible, proactive, personable, helpful and attentive to detail, also good communication skills are important. Q: And what would your advice be for future trainees? A: Be prepared for hard work and heavy lifting, keep health and safety in mind! Q: Excellent advice. Do you feel more confident about finding work in the industry going forwards, now? A: Absolutely. Q: Said with conviction - that's what we like to hear! Well done Sandra, and thanks as always to the production teams that collaborate with us to secure these vital entry level positions for our trainees. ___________________________________ #careerladder #filmandTV #SetReady #careergoals #workinfilm #workonset #HETV #behindthecamera #onset #locationsdepartment #filmcareer #freetraining #Supacell
