There is a reason the CycleMAYnia Mayors’ Ride has become one of most beloved National Bike Month traditions in the county. 🚲
Every year, the ride brings together families, neighbors, community advocates, local elected leaders, and transportation partners for something simple but powerful — experiencing our communities together by bike.
Today’s record-breaking turnout made this year’s ride especially meaningful.
Following the ribbon cutting for the County of Santa Barbara’s Modoc Multi-Use Path Phase II project, riders took to the route to celebrate the growing momentum behind safer, healthier, and more connected communities across Santa Barbara County.
What makes the Mayors’ Ride so energizing is that it turns conversations about infrastructure into real experiences and reminds us that transportation projects are ultimately about people, connection, and quality of life.
Projects like the Modoc Multi-Use Path — supported in part through local Measure A funding — help continue building safer and more connected transportation options throughout the region.
Special thanks to @cityofsb Mayor Randy Rowse, @cityofgoleta Mayor Paula Perotte, @city_of_carpinteria Mayor Natalia Alarcón, @mayordavidsilva , Santa Barbara Councilmember Kristen Sneddon, @supervisorlauracapps , @repcarbajal , @asmgregghart and Ian Baucke from Senator @moniquelimonca office for joining today’s celebration and riding alongside the community.
Thank you to the @countyofsb , City of Santa Barbara, @movesbcounty , Cycling Without Age, @santabarbarabcycle , volunteers, and everyone who helped make today possible.
We’re one week into CycleMAYnia and already having a blast! From a ride around Guadalupe to a brass band (@sb.brasscals ) on State Street, there are events for everyone. There’s still time to join in the fun.

We were up bright and early this morning helping kick things off as Amtrak rolled in with expanded commuter service—and let’s just say… the connection was right on track 🚆➡️🚌
With service officially underway, getting to and from the train just got a whole lot easier. For Amtrak’s expanded commuter service, MTD’s First Mile/Last Mile shuttles are timed to meet arriving trains and connect you to key spots in Goleta and Santa Barbara.
Translation: step off the train, hop on a shuttle, and keep it moving—no stress, no guesswork.
Even better? Your valid Amtrak ticket or pass lets you ride connecting MTD buses fare-free. Yep… free. We love a seamless (and budget-friendly) travel moment.
So whether you’re commuting, cruising, or making a day of it, we’ve got your connection covered.

CycleMAYnia is back this May—with 30+ ways to ride, explore, and connect across Santa Barbara County 🚲
From family rides and guided tours to bike-to-work days and safety workshops, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re a seasoned rider or just getting your wheels turning. This year’s theme, Pedal Forward, is all about the joy of biking and the momentum it creates—connecting communities and opening up more ways to get around.
And here’s the part we love💙: bring your bike🚲 on the bus🚌 and your ride is FREE🆓. All month, thanks to SBCAG!
To celebrate CycleMAYnia, riders who bring their bike on transit can ride fixed-route buses fare-free countywide. Yep—bring your bike, load it up, and ride at no cost. It’s never been easier (or more fun) to mix biking and transit for your daily trips or event adventures.
MTD is rolling with our partners—SBCAG, Santa Maria Regional Transit, City of Lompoc Transit, Santa Ynez Valley Transit, Clean Air Express, and VCTC’s Coastal Express—to make it all happen.
So go ahead… pedal a little, ride a lot, and let transit do the rest.
