Illustration Capstone: Visual Stories got 🐓DONE🔔 a few weeks ago (and officially done tomorrow)!! This group of seniors (aka 🐣The Half Dozen Illustrators aka 👶Jaundice Baby Club aka 🌻Shivani Shenoy Fan Club) have somehow managed to perfectly balance doing hijinks and being high achieving. They bring 200% to their work, to their friendships, and to a level of nonsense (good) I didn't think was possible to experience in one semester. Many thanks to ⭐TA @shivani_illustration who has been with these students for their entire senior capstone as they go from @vidhyan in the Fall to me in the Spring. Narrative Comics is 🗯DONE🗯! Between them, this group of 12 students (grads, seniors, and juniors), made 36 short comics, 1 anthology adapting Saim Sadiq's 2022 film Joyland, and 180 diary comics. Nearly half the class was working on thesis and capstone projects, ALL of which you should check out at their gallery shows. I'm looking forward to all of their future comics! Back with a smol #BystanderAnthology update! Several anthology stories were featured in @_madencounters_ exhibit on 19th September at Helsinki! Grateful to Shambhavi Singh @bambaliino for selecting us. Mad Corridors This exhibition explores notions of madness, mental distress and healing through comics and zines. In the exhibition artists of South Asian descent from India and artists from Finland present narratives that are both personal and political. These works reveal how injustice and oppression shape our minds and explore acts of care, resistance, and moments of joy in times of struggle.
