No child should have to learn to walk twice. But every day, children are forced to because of the harm caused by explosive weapons.
It was April 2023 and war had just broken out in Sudan. Ali* and his little brother Nour*, were playing football at home.
When their ball went into the street, they rushed out to get it - but at the same moment, an explosive shell landed nearby and exploded. In a split second, their lives changed forever.
Ali* lost his leg. Nour* suffered severe injuries that left him paralysed.
We know war is changing. It haunts our headlines every day. We are watching the laws that were designed to protect children be flat-out ignored.
Without urgent action, conflict risks becoming a lawless free-for-all where nothing is off-limits.
We refuse to let this become the new normal. Your voice has power.
For the UK, standing up for international law isn’t a choice. It’s an obligation.
The UK Government needs to:
- Pressure warring parties - and their international backers - to end the violence
- Prioritise protecting children in Sudan
- Hold those who harm children accountable

Yesterday, the Chancellor announced the government is scrapping the two-child limit to benefits that trapped so many kids in poverty.
Here's to the legends who couldn't accept it - who refused to shut up (even when change felt so far away). To all the ordinary, determined people who organised petitions, wrote to hundreds of MPs, and opened up their lives to cameras, journalists and politicians. To the incredible kids - some as young as five - who shared their stories in newspapers and on billboards.
Every single thing you did mattered. And as a result, 450,000 children will be lifted out of poverty by the end of this parliament.
Don't let anyone tell you one person can't make a difference. You just did.
Children in Gaza are the same as all other children. They deserve to grow up healthy and in safety.
But right now, many are forced to live in displacement camps where rats and sewage are worsening the spread of disease.
As temperatures rise in warmer months, the situation is getting worse. Skin rashes have been reported in two thirds of sites in Gaza, and other diseases like scabies, pneumonia and diarrhoea are spreading.
This is not inevitable - it is the result of choices.
Israel, as the occupying power, has a legal obligation to ensure the humanitarian needs of the population are met.
We cannot look away. Children in Gaza need protecting.

A photographer for Save the Children for 14 years, Jonny has been lucky enough to meet many of the communities, families and children that we work with all around the world.
Through his travels, he's come to appreciate the need for deep understanding and solidarity between people across borders and seas.
He reflects on the value of sharing cultures and experiences, of talking and learning about each other, and how much we need that right now.
Thank you for sharing Jonny ❤️

Across Sudan, explosive weapons are leaving a devastating mark on civilians.
Thousands have been injured since the conflict began, with reports showing double the number of casualties from explosive weapons in 2025 compared to 2023.
But these are not battlefield injuries. They are happening to children. When playing with their friends, walking home from school, or at home with their families.
Our colleague, Simon, met some of the children behind the statistics in a hospital in Khartoum. He has written a moving opinion piece for the @dailyexpress talking about his experiences. Swipe to gain his insight.
The UK Government must act urgently: help end the conflict in Sudan, protect children, and ensure accountability. That includes pressuring all warring parties and their international backers to stop the violence.
Sudan’s children can’t afford any more delays.
Our email template takes less than a minute to send to your MP but can pressure them to stand up for children’s rights.

We're devastated by the reports that a missile strike on an apartment building in Kyiv has killed 24 people, including three children.
Over 3,500 children have been killed or injured in Ukraine since the start of full-scale war over four years ago.
Children are not part of this conflict, they’re caught in a cycle of violence they never chose. These horrors must not be normalised.

Explosive weapons change a child’s life in a single moment.
Limbs lost. Childhoods stolen. Futures rewritten in seconds.
Across the world, more children than ever before are getting caught up in explosive blasts as the rules of war are increasingly ignored. They are left with more than physical wounds; fear, trauma, and the injustice of a childhood cut short.
We spoke to @jj.chalmers , TV presenter and former Royal Marines Commando, who shared his experience of surviving a bomb blast and his long road to recovery – and reflected on the growing numbers of children whose lives are being torn apart by explosive weapons.

We are horrified by the news that eight children have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon.
Explosive weapons have become a clear threat to children’s survival and wellbeing in conflict.
Their impact causes not only immediate death and injury but also lifelong disability, trauma and social exclusion.
Children are not part of this conflict, they’re caught in a cycle of violence they never chose. These horrors must not be normalised.

❗ Content warning: child sexual violence and abuse.
At every stage of detention – from arrest, to interrogation, to transfer, to incarceration – Israeli soldiers and officials inflict physical, mental and emotional abuse and torture on Palestinian children.
yvettecooper.mp, @hamish_falconer : the UK Government should publicly call for the release of all Palestinian children arbitrarily detained and call for an end to Israeli military authorities arresting, detaining and prosecuting children.
Yesterday @nytimes reported about the sexual abuse Palestinians - of all ages and genders - face in Israeli detention. Link in bio to read the article.

Actress @nargesrashidi delivered an incredibly moving speech last night after accepting the BAFTA for leading actress.
She reflected on her own experience surviving war as a child before turning attention to children right now in Iran, Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan.
Thank you Narges for shining a light on children living in conflict. As you said, the stories we tell matter ❤️.
