Samuel Sprague is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, vocalist, and DJ based
in Detroit’s electronic underground.
Samuel Sprague’s endeavors in music production tended to eschew convention from a
young age, demonstrating a proclivity for ambient drone and musique concrète under the
moniker Morning Mesh and publishing such works under his own avant-garde cassette label
Tape Hiss Music.
Sprague moved to Detroit in 2017 to refine his techniques in the electroacoustic arts at Wayne State University, paired with studies in jazz percussion. His current artistic pursuits seek to marry Detroit's traditions in groove construction with left-field intersections of art and technolog

Next Sunday we have a very special event planned. Not only is it the release of my new album "The Heart of the Matter" but it will also be the first live sets of me, H-fusion, and Monsuun.
With guidance from more experienced players, Otodojo, Shama, and Hameedullah- coming in from Chicago. We have an afternoon of live electronic music without adherence maybe planned and definitely improvised. Dawat will also be providing food so it's Sure to be a good time. 👍

Hameedullah is the head of Lunt & Ogelsby, a record label based in Chicago. He will be making his live set Detroit Debut and appears on the first song in the album, "Canteloupe Walk"

This album contains transpositions from leaving Detroit in 2020 to Thomas Xu's return from Chicago in 2024.
In its intention it is grattitude for the village and ancestry that supported and enabled Thomas's existence.
