Tangle Garden is a Detroit based DJ and producer shaping a sound rooted in techno and dub techno, balancing restraint with intensity. Her sets favor hypnotic pacing and textured rhythms, building atmosphere and tension with a steady, deliberate hand.
Now performing as Shay, she brings a deeply personal evolution into her work, refining an approach that prioritizes depth, space, and emotional weight over immediacy. Her foundation in music came early, influenced by her father, producer Robert Andrew Bowman, and a close connection to the studio environment.
Her debut album Death of Shadow Rain introduced a darker, introspective palette, centered on repetition, subtle movement, and immersive sound design. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Tangle Garden delivers a cohesive, slow-burning energy that holds the room without forcing it.
