This month, I had the pleasure of producing The Glory by Chef JJ, a two-night only Afro-Atlantic Steakhouse housed in Park Avenue’s St. Bart’s Church. In just 5 weeks, we transformed the space into a curated celebration of culture, and the perfect stage for @chefjj 's thoughtful menu of lemon pepper prawns, empanadas, jerk duck, collard green salad, and so so many more delicious dishes. Featuring brand by @abreuskiee , artwork by @liobumba , desserts by @honeyraps , music by @mick , florals by @bk.blooms , hi-fi booth by @mintbeats I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to create an experience with a story to share, and to have worked alongside individuals who have dedicated their careers to educating and representing culture through a shared plate of food. So much love to @foodculturist and @chefjj 🫶🏼 And to our fave photographer @p3rsonatalie @channel.nyc And of course to everyone who came out to support ❤️

The sandwich guide is live. If you’re looking for a sandwich in the style of select ASMR ingredient-slapping content creators, this is not the guide for you. The kinds of sandwiches that I like to make are ones that you can eat on any given Tuesday afternoon. Something that is still delicious and perhaps even unexpected, but that a normal person could realistically pull together at 1:00 PM without the need of a steak weight or an 8-hour braise. Three weeks ago I opened a new channel on Substack. Creating something of my own has been on my mind for a while now. Given where I find myself in my life at present, writing is the medium that is flowing the most naturally toward that end. I’ve called it Chalant, which is not a real word. In my mind, it’s the opposite of nonchalant, which I have come to accept that I am not. I’m treating this channel like an open journal, each post has a life of its own as we together discover what the platform will be. There’s some talk of food, there’s some talk of art and travel, there’s a lot of talk of how I feel and what I’m encountering as I move through the world for the first time, building and growing along the way. I’ve resolved to post once or twice weekly so that I’m not overthinking by trying to make it perfect. I’m not here to curate one specific version of myself. It’s a practice in producing. It’s a public display of becoming. It’s not perfect, but that’s become the point. Thank you to @totoosya for creating the iconography and to @abreuskiee for designing the brand. Chalant is the first of a few projects we’re working on this year, more soon. Thank you to everyone who has been following along so far. memorializing my recent week in mexico city with some of my favorite foods. (several tuna tostadas not pictured) 1. concha de chocolate from @pancraciapanaderia which i have subjected you all to multiple times already 2. taco de trompo at @labonvi.mx 3. almeja chocolate from @ultramarinos.rest 4. caldo from @caldosdegallinaluis 5. squash blossom & huitlacoche quesadilla from jenni 6. figs from mercado 100, of which i ate many 7. really delicious french toast from @cafe_milou 8. a bad photo of my favorite tuna tostada of the trip from @_el_tibur_ 9. & a very aesthetic oyster from the same place 10. the salsa matcha from ultramarinos which i feel deserves its own slide 11. had a lot of good things at @_niddo but my favorite was the chocolate cake trimmings that carlos' mom brought us 12. concha again, i won't apologize
