TWO BLACK BOYS IN PARADISE took home the BAFTA for British Short Animation on Sunday night, and what a night... Immensely proud of our winners - @deanatta , @germanbenjack and @bazsells - and the entire crew of over 100, and incredibly honoured to have been part of a very special family of so many talented and generous artists on this five year journey. Baz, Ben and Dean collaboratively led with fearless and uncompromising ambition for the very highest standards across every area of production, inspiring the best from us all to fulfil our collective motivation to do Dean's vital poem justice on screen. Our film's greatest achievement is the response we've felt and received both in person and virtually from audiences worldwide - it has made people feel seen, and made others see. I will cherish one particular reaction from our premiere at BFI Flare forever. Eternally grateful to BAFTA, and all the members who voted, for recognising our film and giving it a platform to reach further audiences far and wide - I dearly hope it continues to resonate, educate, and affect people around the world. As Dean said so powerfully - The black queer imagination is limitless. - If you haven't seen the film, please watch it on Channel 4 (UK only) and share widely: channel4.com/programmes/two-black-boys-in-paradise

TWO BLACK BOYS IN PARADISE has been nominated for the @bafta for Best Short Animation, to join its @bifa nomination for Best British Short and @criticscircle nomination for Best British/Irish Short. Eden and Dula are two black boys on a journey of self-acceptance. Their love for each other, and their refusal to hide it, lands them in a paradise free from shame and judgement. Supported by the @britishfilminstitute and narrated by @jordanfstephens , it's been a five-year journey with studio @one_6th to adapt @deanatta 's incredibly powerful poem into a stop motion short, and when we set out, we could never have envisaged the reaction we've had from audiences. Having premiered at the 39th BFI Flare London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, the film has gone on to win audience and jury awards at festivals around the world, including @encounterssff and @woodstockfilmfestival , while also streaming on @channel4 having won the @irisprize audience award. Incredibly proud of nominees writer/exec producer @deanatta , writer/producer @germanbenjack and writer/director/co-DP @bazsells , and delighted their relentless hard work, dedication and talent has been recognised. Thank you for the opportunity to collaborate with you to bring Eden and Dula's vital story to life on screen. I love stop motion dearly, so it was an honour to work with these rushes, made by over 100 crew members pouring themselves into every detail for thousands of hours - seeing the animatic transform frame by frame into full-blown animation was majestic. Special thanks to @aviascheltsbrown for the phenomenal storyboards which formed the bedrock of our animatic, co-DP @jonathan_garvey for collaborating on the workflow, exec producer Aoife Hayes for incisive feedback throughout the edit, and the entire post crew - VFX artists @affixxius , Andy Kiernan and @elioteden , colourist @nedeem_colour , sound and music @picturesonix , and re-recording mixer @alex_bird_audio - for their collaboration and wizardry weaving the final film together. Making of filmed by @leonagasperr and edited by @joe.eckworth . You can watch the full 9-minute film for free on @channel4 here: channel4.com/programmes/two-black-boys-in-paradise

Synopsis: Leo is eight, curious, wise and full of imagination. His best friend is a massive shark—half sculpture, half myth—that crashed through the roof of his house one night when his dad, Peter, gave shape to what he couldn’t say out loud. Leo’s world is full of questions: why do grown-ups act so strangely? Where did Mum go five years ago? And will Dad ever come down from the clouds—or at least remember to do the shopping? Peter’s either buried in big, bonkers art projects or barely speaking, so Leo daydreams vividly and shares his secrets with the shark, who might just be listening but can’t speak back. Then Anya bursts into their lives: a spirited au pair with her own questions to shatter the silence and answers more honest than Leo has ever heard before. Her fearless warmth and energy brings back colour to their world and uplifts their lives.

THE DAY OF THE JACKAL is out today in the UK, premiering at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and streaming on demand on NOW, starting with episode 1 cut by Luke Dunkley and episode 2 which I had the great pleasure of editing. One of the most revered thrillers ever written, it's been an honour to help bring Ronan Bennett's modern-day series adaptation of Frederick Forsyth's seminal novel to the screen, and a privilege to work with the performances of an incredible cast led by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, BAFTA winner Lashana Lynch and Úrsula Corberó. Episode 2 features tracks by Sam Brookes, The Smile and Nilüfer Yanya, alongside Volker Bertelmann's original score and Celeste's series title track 'This Is Who I Am'. Immensely grateful to director Brian Kirk, fellow block one editor Luke Dunkley and executive producers Ronan Bennett, Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, Sue Naegle and Marianne Buckland for the opportunity to cut on the show.
