👉🏾 Do you know what is the Universal Periodic Review (UPR)?
🇺🇳 The UPR is a @unitednations (UN) Human Rights Council mechanism aimed at improving the human rights situation on the ground of each of the 193 UN Member States. Under this unique mechanism, each Member State undergoes a review of its human rights record every 5 years.
⏰ Singapore is due for its next review on 12 May 2026.
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ In October 2025, Oogachaga, @pinkdotsg and @projectx.sg collaborated and made a joint submission. Another joint submission focussing on employment and workplace-related issues was made with @samebutdifferent.sg .
📺 This is leading up to the United Nations Human Rights Council 4th cycle UPR of Singapore at its upcoming 52nd session on 12 May 2026 from 2.30pm (Geneva time). You can watch it live on United Nations Web TV.
Did you see us at NTU? 🌈💜
On 17 October (Friday), Pelangi Pride Centre set up a booth at NTU to share our work and promote a positive, caring, and learning environment through mental wellbeing resources.
We brought along a selection of queer-affirming books, including the Legal Guidebook for LGBT Couples & Families in Singapore from @samebutdifferent.sg , giving students a chance to explore resources that support growth and wellbeing.
Our team, led by @eileenacounsellingtherapy and @niji.miki.piano.lamy , included our youngest volunteers, Elio and Olivia, helped make the booth engaging and welcoming for everyone who stopped by!

Kicking off the morning with our Healthcare Professionals Breakfast Club, the sold-out mixer (full house!) hosted over 80 attendees with delicious bakes from @beastly.girls 🥐
Then we had amazing booths set up by @theotherclinicasia@samebutdifferent.sg@ascendcare_medical , housing concerns sorted by @hausofpridesg@chingtherealtor & a fabulous panel discussion with our fav lawyer @bozy8d 💜

Estate planning is a bit more complicated for LGBTQ folks because our relationships are not recognised under Singapore law.
Our committee member, @bozy8d was back at @pelangipridecentre to share about Wills, the Lasting Power of Attorney and Advanced Medical Directive, tools which everyone can use to give instructions on how their personal, property and medical affairs should be handled if they lose mental capacity or pass away.
As we always say, when there's a Will, there's a way.

We had lots of fun putting on an estate planning legal improv comedy show at @societegenerale with the help of actors from @larksimprovtheatre .
We shared about how everyone can use legal instruments such as the Lasting Power of Attorney and Wills to ensure that their wishes are carried out if we lose mental capacity or when we pass away.

This election season, the LGBTQ+ community has already endured harassment and pressure campaigns from conservative groups seeking to divide people. We’ve even faced death threats – which we have reported to the police. Is this really the kind of Singapore we want?

On 29 March, our volunteer lawyer Bozy explained the last on estate planning, Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) at Pelangi Pride Centre in English and Chinese. It was a thought-provoking session with an interactive audience - shoutout to the attendees who took time out on a Saturday afternoon to come by for the talk!

The audience were attentive and thoroughly engaged, asking various thoughtful questions that Bozy deftly answered. Thank you to our registered attendees and library visitors, you all contributed lots of laughter and contemplative silence that afternoon :)
We ended off the session with Charles from our Aging Forward Initiative presenting a token of appreciation to Bozy. The portrait was a group effort, handmade with love by our volunteer and community friend <3
