5 days left to vote for Blip for @lampthecompetition People’s Choice in association with @designmilk 😌 my @gantri pendant lamp launched earlier this year at @icff_official in New York. Votes close on the 20th November! Use the link in my bio to vote for your favourite. Blip is a happy accident that plays with perception. Its whimsical design effortlessly blends art and function, casting a mesmerizing glow that transforms spaces into galleries of light. Blip emerged serendipitously during development, where two overlapping shapes created its distinctive design. This unique form embodies the interplay between error and intention, resulting in a ‘glitched glow’ that transforms a mistake into a remarkable piece. Every angle and undercut is almost impossible to create using traditional techniques, but through 3D printing, it’s formed without needing any support material. Truly zero waste. Blip is more than just a light—it’s a statement piece that incites double takes. Its broad, ambient glow softly illuminates spaces, making it ideal for kitchen islands, dining tables or any setting that calls for a playful yet sophisticated touch. Its whimsical design will spark conversation, inviting curiosity and turning any room into a work of art. #lightingdesigner #lighting #interiordesignerlondon #gantriathome #letsdodesign #3dprinted

@atonemo.electronics sent me a Streamplayer box to try out! #ad #gifted I’m really enjoying mixing and matching the speakers in my flat. Taking my perfectly good but old Tibo speakers and syncing them with my Braun LE02 has given them a new lease of life. Thanks Atonemo!

Sam Gwilt’s sophomore release with Gantri, the Encore Table Light, taps into the emotional experience derived from curtains — in a theater, concealed and raising anticipation prior to a performance, to the ethereal, warm feeling when the sun shines through your home. Encore is Gwilt’s showcase of how curtains can play a fundamental role in how one experiences light, through control or enhancement. . . . . 📷 @riotwashere

I’m so excited by the new @keyshot3d Light Layers feature! I’ve been using it for a while and it really helps to clean up images and remove any unwanted highlights on specific parts. Making Light Layers is easy - create new layers and toggle which lights you want in that layer. Then, assign the layer to a specific part. Done! No more crossed shadows, and no more unwanted highlights. I’m sure there are loads more use cases that Light Layers will enable. Have you used the new feature yet? #keyshot #keyshot2025 #letsdodesign #cgi #productrendering #productvisuals

*Entries are now closed* We’ve teamed up with @sam_does_design to help break down our latest Reimagine competition. He’s put together a walkthrough showing exactly how to enter, from using the Naya board to structuring your submission, and has created his own desk organiser design in response to the brief. • The Brief ✍ Together with @naya__studio and @onshapeptc , we’re asking designers to rethink the workspace. Design a desk organiser or system that brings clarity to a creative’s daily setup, a physical counterpart to Naya’s digital workspace. Winners will receive cash prizes, high-fidelity prototypes of their designs, and premium subscriptions to Naya. The overall winner will also join us for a recorded call to chat through their process, which we’ll feature across Design Burger and our partners’ channels. You can access the same Naya board template Sam used via the link in our bio. Tag #dbxnaya when you publish your entries. • To enter, submit: ✅A mood board with form, colour, material & finish ✅ Early concepts and iterations throughout your design process ✅ High-quality visuals + a STEP file of your final design ✅ A well-organised Naya board showing your process (this is what the judges will review) • Entries close 15th July. Good luck!

The new Environments and Photoreal Materials in SketchUp 2025 change the mood of your builds in seconds! #ad See what your model will look like in different lighting conditions, from dark and moody to light and airy. Checking how your scenes react to different lighting is really important to understand how it might look in the real world. And it’s so easy with the SketchUp 2025 release! Simply select the environment of your choice, and decide where the sun is placed. Make sure you use the new Photoreal Materials, which use multiple texture maps that influence the glossiness levels and bump height. #SketchUp3D #SketchUp2025 #CAD #HDRI

The best @keyshot3d users CHEAT, and I definitely do. #ad When it comes to render times, it’s all about efficiency. Sometimes you need to simulate an LED surrounded by a translucent plant-based plastic for accurate diffused lighting, but these multiple layers of simulation really affect your rendering times. Sometimes you can just set the material to Area Light and mimic the look of a soft glow with a Gradient colour. Always think about the fewest steps Keyshot needs to achieve the look you’re after. When you first learn Keyshot, it’s natural to try and replicate the real world as close as possible. But the power users know that most of the thought process is deciding where you can cheat. #gantriathome #letsdodesign #gantri #3dprinted #lightingdesign #cgi #keyshot #keyshot3d

@keyshot3d 2025 introduces these huge upgrades that will make lighting your scenes so much quicker! #ad The Planar light replicates real photography lighting, complete with controls to direct the beam angle. These replicate the “barn door” panels from the real world, and they’re super easy to adjust in Keyshot. Next up we have the Light Position tab, which lets you simply click your model wherever you want to place light. This is similar to placing light pins with the HDRI scene, but this time with physical lights in 3D space. “Highlight” makes sure the light angle will bounce right into view, and “Normal” will make the light plane perfectly offset from the surface you click. “Target” keeps the light in the same spot, but it looks wherever you’re clicking, and “Orbit” lets you drag the light around the model. I’ve already used this to speed up my workflow and increase realism in my genuine work! Have you tried it yet? #keyshot #photographylighting #keyshot2025 #cgi #productvisualization

Be inspired by movie prop departments and add realism with imperfections! Did you know that Darth Vader originally had selected silver panels to make him stand out on screen? You can replicate this theory in @keyshot3d . #ad First, always add a slight roughness. Nothing in the real world has a roughness value of 0. I’d recommend going with a minimum of 0.025. Secondly, adding a roughness texture map will really increase your realism. This uses the colour of the image to determine the roughness, where black is pure gloss and white is 100% matte. I used Keyshot’s Fractal Noise pattern set to 50mm in scale. I changed the colour values to two variations of dark grey (almost black!). Make sure to keep these colours close, as you want the effect to be subtle. Lastly, I added some micro-scratches to the bump channel. Again, keep this subtle! This should barely be visible when zoomed in. Add the Scratches node with the scale as 1mm. The bump height should be very small - something like -0.05. The density is 5, and the size is 1. Within the size setting, adjust how thin the scratches are to 50.
