Material Memory 10 years exhibition. @cluster__crafts @rocalondongallery 21st May to 17th June. It is an amazing gallery space designed by @zahahadidarchitects My research is a part time practice based PhD in clay and ceramics @sunderlanduni funded by @ahrcpress @northernbrigeconsortium . Supervised by @clay_doc and @professor_yitka My interest in this area has come from a life long awareness of something different, a rocky start in education and carrying the #weightoftheworld my focus in academic research began on MA ceramics @csad_ceramics supported by @natashamayoceramics @clairecurneen Thank you at artist blacksmith Matt west @m.r.westprojects who helped me with the steel work for my @british_ceramics_biennial Award 2019 installation @pjwe111 for amazing writing I have been exploring my own and others experience through practice in clay and utilizing Instagram as a research method @theweightofbeing and thank you to all of those amazing women, @sharongriffinart @aphraoconnor @claredayceramics @marsh_farm_pottery who believe in the ND cause and all of the anonymous ones and @jon_williams_potter and @cyborg_artist who participated in the semi structured interviews, such rich experiences And encouraged and collaboration with @nick_grellier #mybodyinmyhands from call out, cocreated online gallery, physical exhibition @sva__ and artist book #mybodyinmyhandsbook drop in workshops across the UK and conference talks and exhibitions @juliaellenlancaster_ceramics @sarahpurvey @voices.gloucester @gnac_neuroartscollective @amy_freeman_art_stuff My studio is @victoriaworksstudios in chalford Stroud, a beautiful part of the world, which the PhD funding has made possible, if only I could afford to live there 😊 I am lucky to work part time in a specialist college for 27 years which still has a belief in the importance of soft clay in the hands of young neurodivergent people I'm still trying to make sense of and write up my PhD but am in messy middle, if you have undertaken a PhD and you are neurodivergent you will understand this And my clay club ...staff rec ceramics who are the most supportive and accept my facilitative approach to teaching

Get @reshare_app@british_ceramics_biennial We are midway through Mental Health Awareness Week, and we thought we would share artworks from some of our past Award artists dealing with different themes around mental health and wellbeing. 1. 'Same Same But Different' by @sam____lucas is based on feelings of awkwardness within your own body and how that can especially affect those who are neurodivergent. 2. 'This whole situation has made me realise I am going to die alone.' by @connor.coulston uses self-deprecating humour as a tool to bring focus to personal issues such as depression, queer identity and his Grandmothers love for right-wing politicians. 3. 'There are devils in my house' by @jaz.simpson.art explores how the lockdowns brought into sharp focus our relationship with our homes. For many people, homes represent safety and security. For others, they can be a place of solitude and isolation. 4. 'It Was Lost in the Move' by @leah.jensen embodied the anxieties and worries that come with housing insecurity, and the bigger impact that housing shortages have on society. 📷 Jenny Harper #MentalHealthAwareness #BCBAward

I can't put into words how strongly I feel about this. I did really badly at school because of my haphazard way of being. Having clay put into my young hands was a turning point and ceramics became my sanctuary and gave me a future. I have worked at a specialist college for 27 years and have encouraged the use of clay, in my own way. In a supportive/facilitative role rather than leading Clay is so underrated and this is an amazing project by @kate_malone_ceramics @firedup4clay @sothebys @londoncraftweek I feel so proud to have been invited to add my work to the exhibition and auction to raise money to give disadvantaged young people the opportunity of experiencing clay in the many projects the firedup4clay charity are undertaking please come and see the amazing work and bid if you are able. Apologies if I sound like Amanda in careers week #amandaland 🤣 I can't help myself. #secretceramics #firedup4clay #firedup #londoncraftweek Please pass on www.firedup4

Perfectly/imperfect self acceptance, multifaceted, authenticity, warts and all. Not hiding, wearing it on the outside. Constructing and reconstructing the self in clay through naive interpretation and representation somewhere between 2024 and 2025 in naked clay
