Did you know Philadelphia was the very first location of The Salvation Army in the United States. What started as a mission rooted in hope, compassion, and service has grown into a movement that continues transforming lives every single day through food assistance, housing support, youth programs, emergency services, senior services, community care...and more! As we celebrate National Salvation Army Week, we’re reminded that the heartbeat of this mission began right here in Philadelphia and the impact continues because of people who choose to care, serve, give, volunteer, and stand beside their community. But the work is far from over. ❤️ Want to make an impact? ✨ Volunteer your time ✨ Sponsor an event or community initiative ✨ Partner with us to serve Greater Philadelphia ✨ Share our story and mission ✨ Contact us to learn more about our programs and services Together, we can continue creating hope and transforming lives across Greater Philadelphia. #NationalSalvationArmyWeek #TheSalvationArmy #DoingTheMostGood #Philadelphia #GreaterPhiladelphia

We’re so grateful to stand alongside leaders who are actively addressing an issue that has impacted our community for far too long. Thank you to @cmninaahmad and @phillymayor for your leadership and commitment to combating human trafficking across our city. We also want to recognize the incredible work of the Philadelphia Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition. Their collaboration continues to strengthen how Philadelphia prevents, identifies, and responds to trafficking, ensuring survivors are supported every step of the way. We look forward to working alongside @chatterblast and @stopthetraffik as we advance a coordinated, citywide approach to public awareness, training, and survivor-centered response. Together, we are building a stronger, more responsive Philadelphia where survivors are seen, supported, and empowered.

Today at City Hall, I was proud to launch Philadelphia’s Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Campaign, a $500,000 investment to expand awareness, strengthen prevention and support survivors across our city. In this video, I share why this work matters and how we are bringing partners together to take action. Thank you to Mayor Cherelle Parker, the Office of Public Safety, The Salvation Army, Chatterblast Media and all of our partners committed to ending human trafficking in Philadelphia. Together, we are building a more informed, responsive and survivor centered city. #EndHumanTrafficking #Philly #PublicSafety #AwarenessMatters #cmahmad

We were proud to host our Social Workers Appreciation Day at @sakrocphilly in recognition of Social Work Month with this year’s theme of “Uplift. Defend. Transform.” Our wonderful staff and social workers from across @salarmypendel came together for a day of fellowship and shared purpose. The room spent time reflecting on the wide impact of our services, with representation from @newdaytostoptrafficking , @havenofhopecommunitycenter , homeless services, food pantries, Corps, senior programming, youth services, and permanent supportive housing. Attendees took part in a guided session with @tctsy and a hands-on art workshop in partnership with @muralarts as well! More than anything, this event was a heartfelt thank you to the individuals who show up each day committed to serving our most vulnerable neighbors.

Our Celebrate Hope Annual Luncheon is set to take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026! 🎉 This yearly fundraising event brings us together to recognize the impact of dedicated civic leaders in our community. We are excited to announce three Philadelphia leaders whose commitment to giving back is truly commendable. Join us as we celebrate the outstanding service of @repdwightevans of Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District, Cynthia Figueroa of @jevshumanservices , and Niki Hawkins of @6abcactionnews . Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit our senior citizen programs across the city, helping ensure our neighbors in need have access to essential resources, companionship, and care. 🎟️ To purchase tickets, sponsor the event, or learn more, visit the link in our bio.

HOPE 220 represents a shift in how we respond to homelessness. Not just shelter, but a Homelessness Solution Center focused on connection, coordination, and outcomes. Our FY27 One Philly, One Future budget proposal expands @philaohs ’ model with increased investment in outreach, housing placements, and supportive services. Because solving homelessness requires more than a place to stay —— It requires a path forward. 📍 220 N. “It creates a pathway toward stability for individuals who are working to rebuild their lives.” This week, we hosted Mayor Cherelle Parker, the Office of Homeless Services, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Jefferson Health, and other Philadelphia supporters to celebrate a $500,000 donation from PHL Cares and the official opening of Hope 220. This solution center will work to support those experiencing chronic homelessness, and provide safe and dignified access to essential resources, such as on-site medical care. Thank you to everyone who has come alongside us to make monumental movement in this cause. This partnership strengthens our collective mission for our neighbors in need. 🏡💛

Following last Thursday’s City Council session, I brought The Salvation Army’s New Day to Stop Trafficking to City Hall to spotlight the fight against human trafficking in Philadelphia. We talked about how trafficking connects to housing, poverty, gender-based violence, and public safety—and centered the voices of women who have survived exploitation. It was a powerful chance to hear directly from advocates on what survivors need to rebuild their lives with dignity and stability. Events like this show why collaboration between City Council, community partners, and service providers is so important. Together, we can keep pushing for solutions that protect, empower, and uplift women across our city. #WomensHistoryMonth #EndHumanTrafficking #Philadelphia #CityHall #SurvivorVoices #cmahmad
