Attention all curators and curatorial enthusiasts! @publicsfi , together with @kiasmamuseum and @amoskonst , are organizing this amazing four-day symposium, "Positioning. A Symposium on Curatorial Thinking in the Nordic-Baltic Region & Beyond", which will take place from September 29 to October 2, 2025 🗣️🌀🎨 There will be a great lineup of presentations, talks, discussions, and artist commissions. I will be participating in the "For the Record 3" session, which is moderated by Marti Manen (@martimanen ) and includes a wonderful group of fellow curators: Miina Hujala (@ingredients_miinah ), Piia Oksanen (@piia.oksanen ), Irina Mutt (@irina___mutt ), SunnySide Space (@sunnyside.site ), and Anne Szefer Karlsen (@anneszeferkarlsen ). Meet the Finnish curators visiting RendezVous – Brussels Art Week! ❤️‍🔥 Sakari Tervo and Max Hannus have been invited to explore Brussels’ artistic landscape, nurturing new connections and inspiring creative exchange. ✨ Sakari Tervo (he/him) is a curator and a former artist who works as a university teacher at Aalto University. He has co-directed the artist-run spaces Titanik (2012–2014) and Sorbus (2014–2019) and has curated a series of online exhibitions. In 2023, he founded the exhibition platform Pitted Dates, whose program brings together emerging and established artists in thoughtful, carefully curated group exhibitions. ✨ Max Hannus (they/them) is a curator, working independently and at Kiasma Museum, Helsinki. Their recent curated exhibitions include Essi Kuokkanen (opening in October 2025), Sarah Lucas (opening in October 2025) and Dreamy — Queer Imaginaries (2023) at Contemporary Art Museum Kiasma, as well as Moon in your Mouth (2023) at UKS, Oslo, which considered consent, intimacy and emotional labour in the realm of exhibition making. All you paint lovers out there! I will be hosting an artist talk (in Finnish, sorry!) with Thomas Nyqvist, one of the most influential painters in Finland, on Wednesday, August 27th / 18:00, at @kohtataidehalli 🤗 As someone who has stopped painting but still fantasizes about being a painter, I hope to cover some tiny topics alongside his current exhibition, such as: how to talk about paintings, how to teach painting, what painting is/ can be, and most importantly, just to explore the pure impossibly of painting! 🌬️🎨✨ I hope to see you all there! Feel free to join the conversation. I wish to create a relaxed yet focused space for anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a painter or has been moved by a painting 🌞 Address: Työpajankatu 2 B, building 7, 3rd floor.
