Sabine Kaner @sabinemake
Protect Your Glasses - Pens – Scissors
Sat 25 April 14.30-16.30
This workshop invites participants to create a soft felt protective case using simple stitching and recycled materials. It connects to Sabine’s art work ‘Protection’, by exploring how small textile gestures can safeguard the everyday, and carry emotional and material memory. Participants are asked to bring a small sewing kit which includes needles and scissors as well as fabric scraps (optional).
Max participants: 6 Age: 13+

Continuing our introduction to individual Prism members approach to the theme of Dictionary, for our April exhibition:
Sabine Kaner *
Sabine Kaner is a mixed media illustrator and textile artist whose work creates tactile stories of memory, protection, identity and belonging. Working with hand-stitch, repurposed fabrics and symbolic colours, she constructs visual vocabularies reflecting both personal and ancestral stories. Recent pieces were inspired by real-life events—including the destruction of her Cotswolds stone boundary wall, and wider concerns about the erosion of social and environmental protections. Through the use of metaphorical imagery such as quilts, gloves, plants, and stitched fragments, Kaner builds an evolving lexicon exploring how textiles can hold quiet activism, emotional resonance, and construct new forms of meaning.

A Journey Through Stitch Illustration 🧵🪡🧶
Each fragment carries its own texture, colour, and story. Together they form a map of memory, migration, and imagination — stitched marks a language of their own. 🧵
