Such a pleasure to take Will and Malinda on a private trip up to Alaska. Here is a little teaser from the trip. As for the scared bear cub getting swept down stream mamma bear ran along the shore, jumped in and saved the reuniting the family.

Creating a nook for sleeping, cooking, eating in less than traditional places has always been a joyous endeavor. It has allowed me the freedom to travel, sleeping in the back of a car, and see a hell of a lot of new places. These little spaces have saved me thousands from silly hotels. Home on the road and a home at home. It started with a hunk of foam in the back of my Honda Element, then a platform with a bed plus gear bins, another iteration to fit a bike, a single bed in the tacoma, then something a wee bit more elaborate. Using these little spaces always seem to make me feel like a kid in the most epic fort. Can’t wait to keep creating these little forts 🛻🏠 #tinyhomesonthemove #smalltruckcamps

Home: After continuous travel this past year, and the ping ponging around the last few years, the exhaustion from it all has been increasingly palpable. I’ve always been able to create a feeling of home just about where ever I am, sleeping in a tent, a boat, or the back of a truck. However the ease that being back home on the central Coast has brought is welcomed. It’s a deeper sense of being home, more rooted, surrounded by friends and family I haven’t seen in far too long. Heading into the fall and winter brings a slower more grounded pace of life that I’m very much craving. Here’s a few pictures from home this past week.

A chapter has closed, carved into stone. The ups and downs were testing yet we prevailed. The question, “is it all over?” was asked more than once. We fixed, mended, and overcame time and time again. System failures were seemingly an annoyance that needed fixing rather than a catastrophe. However the fried electronics meant we wouldn’t have adequate emergency comms. Safe retreat being the only option. Reaching Ireland was the target, though our goals more personal. Transcendence, strength, and brotherhood. Sharpening the chisel to carve the next chapter

Rowing directly into a hurricane isn’t exactly what you’d call the brightest idea. Waiting for hurricane Elsa to move out of the way for the time being. @thehardwayhome

Waiting Before leaving New York we waited for weeks for our weather window to open up. After Rowing for four days we tossed out the anchor and sat for two days to wait out tropical storm Claudette. Once our electrical system failed we arrived in Falmouth Massachusetts to solve our problems. Although things are looking good for a re-launch nothing is certain. We wait for the last pieces of the puzzle to come together. Waiting can be hard but it is a rite of passage for this adventure. @thehardwayhome

Tomorrow at 12:00pm we shove off in ocean row boat Barney to cross the North Atlantic! Finally getting to the start line feels crossing a big finish line. The boat is packed, ready, and all of our systems have been triple checked. We are ready. Keep track of our progress as we row into the void by clicking the link in my bio and follow @thehardwayhome

A little delay while we wait for the winds ease up to allow us to get safely offshore. đź“· @thewonderbrothers
