If 2024 was the year of the double exposure, then 2025 was the year of setting my exposure time to 0.6 seconds, firing a flash and wiggling my camera around like a lunatic. I'm really proud of how much my photos/videos have improved over the year, so here's a few of my favorites to celebrate! Somehow this year I found time to photograph and or film 183 sets of live music! I also somehow squeezed myself onto the stage for 30 sets! These are both new records for me that I don't see falling anytime soon. Don't think I'd even want to try to be honest. We'll have to se what the future holds.... Loserpalooza 2025!! What a day, filled with so much joy and love for live music! For the second year in a row now I set myself the ridiculous goal of getting footage of every band playing. I decided to up the ante by making it one whole song from each band, dunno why probably because I'm a bit mad. Apologies to The Beatnik Staffs who I didn't get a whole song of. I decided to try sabotaging myself by leaving the mount for my camera to fit on my gimbal setup at home. So footage from the first few bands suffered slightly as my legendary partner Katrina boosted home to save the day. Katrina deserves another special shutout for filming my bands Somacaine and Skonk. Massive thanks to Austin and all who helped make the day what it was. Featuring...... @capricoremusic bringing their Capritour to @okahukura.studio and making everyone beg for Caprimore. Ever since we played with these guys last year, I've been itching to see them again. So when Aidan messaged me and said they'd be keen to add Tauranga to their tour, I was ecstatic! Not only would I be able to see them play again, I wouldn't have to venture all the way up to Jafa central to do so. As expected, they played a killer set to an adoring crowd. Taking home the prestigious "Most useless band of the night" award on Saturday at @okahukura.studio was none other than Eddie & The Dreamers! Luckily, they nominated themselves to receive this prize, so I didn't have to. Apparently "you'll be on around 8:15/8:30ish" translates in Dreamer speak to "Smash back cold ones at the Hop House until we get called to come to the venue while our roadie Ryan sets up all our gear for us". Unfortunately, my unwavering love for every member of this band prevents me from slagging them off any further. Oh well. 09/05/2026

@velouria.band playing at @okahukura.studio on Saturday night. Another awesome set from Te Pukes finest. Will always gives everything he has and leaves it all on the stage! And by that, I mean he always leaves something behind on the stage, or just off to the side of if. Amps, lamp come mic stands, suit jackets, he's done it all. He said he'd come grab his most recent addition to this list at the next show we have. When's our next show ? Why this Saturday of course with Crook (Auckland), Skonk (Tauranga) and Cardinal (Whakatane). Plug plug plug. See you there! 09/05/2026

@stuntclownnz closing out the evening last Saturday night at @okahukura.studio They treated me by playing a new song from their upcoming second album at soundcheck, and then not actually playing it as a part of their set. Ian said something along the lines of "we want there to be some surprises on the album".mmhhh sure, totally wasn't just a ploy to make me feel special and give the album a positive review on release and buy a hundred copies. I'm onto you, Mr Clown. 25/04/2026

@the.vile.maxim were up next on Saturday night @okahukura.studio My hot tip to budding gig organisers out there is as follows... Let Nik do all the work and then take all the credit for yourself. It's really that simple. Of course, Nik might get sick and then bail on the show halfway through the first band leaving you to pick up the pieces but that's an extreme edge case and would probably never happen in real life. Stoked to have finally got these guys over to play at Ōkahukura, thanks everyone for giving them such a warm welcome! 25/04/2026

@tonedef.cvrband were up first at @okahukura.studio on Saturday night. After trying for ages to get them on a lineup at Ōkahukura I finally succeeded! Turns out when you give people plenty of notice about an upcoming gig instead of messaging them on the day of to fill in, they're more likely to be able to make it. The more you know I guess. Stay tuned for more photos from the evening and more fun things you probably could've figured out by yourself about booking shows. 25/04/2026

The Slaying Seas making their triumphant return to the stage at @thehophouse12 for Mitchell's Birthday. Man I'd really been missing these guys. Let's hope they stick around for a while this time instead of disappearing into the void like they did last year. Thanks to the Hop House for letting us put this on. It was fun setting up and playing somewhere different for a change, let's hope that these gigs stick around for a bit and don't get sucked into that same all consuming black hole. 18/04/2026

We are super stoked to be playing another show with @notexactband and in Tauranga none the less. as well as our first beatdown with hardcore legends @hoon.hc we can’t wait for this one, it’s all ages and koha entry so no reason not to show up and tear the roof down

DROOK (USA) VENUE CHANGE SUNDAY 19th APRIL 1PM AT OKAHUKURA Usually, when bad weather is incoming I leave making a judgement call on cancelling or venue changes until the morning of the gig, but in this case Drook are coming all the way from the USA to play sleepy old Tauranga. So rather than leaving it up to chance with the bridge gods, we have made the tough decision to change venues this Sunday to Okahukura - who have graciously allowed us to use their excellent studio (14 Grey Street, Tauranga CBD - down the alleyway). While this is an obvious bummer, on the plus side; there will be a working toilet, Drook will be able to use all their samplers rather than me telling them that my 6 channel mixer only has one working channel and their wattage requests exceed the limit of my generators capacity, the bands won’t get electrocuted by sideways rain on my already dodgy electrical set up, we won’t ruin another afternoon for the homeless man already living in unfortunate circumstances under the bridge and I can pass the reigns of this gig on to @ryanvinyl presents who does all the Okahukura gigs while I go sit under the bridge and celebrate 14 years of bridge gigs as they first started in the rain and by myself as Your Enabler Resents. All round a good afternoon for all. Okahukura like the bridge is all ages, koha entry, and will still kick off at 1pm with Everything is Fucked on first. @growndownz on around 2pm and Drook after that. Thanks to @alowhum for making it happen and indulging me with my flimsy excuse of incoming rain to shirk all responsibility for this gig..
