12 Hours in London: It’s not really a lot of time, to be honest. So what do you do?
Start by landing at 6 a.m. Stumble your way, half-asleep, through security and get lost along the way to the Tube. Finally make your way into the city, grab a much-needed coffee, and watch a long-overdue reunion with an amazing person who will join you to gallivant around London. Find yourself in Chinatown, then in Trafalgar Square in front of the National Gallery. Do the touristy thing and poke around for a bit.
Before long, you’ll be stuffing your face with a giant Polish sausage outside the Royal Festival Hall. Work it off with a walk along the Thames, stopping at the famous Tate Museum for a pint of beer to top it all off.
You’ll explore a new city, meet a new friend, and have great conversations before running back to the Tube and heading to the airport just in time to catch your next flight at 6 p.m.
It was short, but sweet. Until next time, London.

Texture, light, and something just sharp enough to wake it all up.
Preserved lemon folded through tagliatelle with chicken, set against stone and shadow.

Meringues are a bit of a trick. Just sugar and air, but they demand patience.
These came out light, crisp, a little imperfect in the way that makes them better. A sharp hit of raspberry to keep the sweetness in check, and that soft center that never quite plays by the rules.
Sometimes simple things are the ones worth paying attention to.

I don’t really trust a kitchen without a little heat in it.
Something to wake things up. Something that lingers just long enough to remind you it was there.
These are the ones I keep close. The quiet troublemakers. A spoon, a drizzle, a squeeze and suddenly everything’s a little more alive.
Not about blowing your head off. Just enough to keep things interesting.

The days are stretching out again. You can feel it in the light — a little softer, a little less winter.
Shot these Brussels sprouts last week, roasted hard until the edges went dark and sweet. Then finished with Vietnamese nước chấm — Red Boat fish sauce, palm sugar, lime. That sharp, savoury hit that makes you sit up straighter.
It’s the kind of flavour that doesn’t ask for attention. It just earns it.

Some nights you follow tradition. Some nights you just follow the spice cabinet.
All the warm, earthy flavor of a good samosa, tossed with potatoes and roasted until golden and crispy. The kind of thing you plan to share and then quietly don’t.

This is your sign to linger. Chocolate mousse, warm light, and someone you like sitting close.

It’s a new year, and it’s time to get back at it! Starting off with my long term ongoing project: capturing my aging self.
For long time I’ve been capturing a self portrait every 2 years, in the hopes that one day I’ll be able to look back at them all and see how I’ve aged. It’s a fun excuse to exercise my creativity and do something different than last time. The first self portrait I took was back in 2005, a film camera rigged on a timer while I played shitty punk. 21 years later (yikes!) I figured I would have fun and pay a little homage to where I began with film and 90’s French punk.
Enjoy

Happy New Year!
Another year has passed, and I’m grateful to be able to make a living by doing what I love, and it wouldn’t be possible without amazing folks like @eshunmott (pictured above) owner of @flavourfull.ca whom I’ve partnered with so much this year. Along with countless others like @raynamarlee@lindseyclarkstylist@thezerowastekitchen@_kay_pollock_ and @jillfreestylefarm who’ve been at the heart of so much of what all of us do. Of course, thank you to all of you who like and share our work, you’re awesome.
Here’s to another year 🥂
