It’s great to join in with a vigil when away from home, and to have travellers join us in Denmark. Last Friday I stood with the excellent folk of the Fremantle vigil for refugees and today Gwyn from Casey Cardinya For Refugees joined us in Denmark. The news cycle may have moved on but there is still plenty of work to be done to turn Australia back into a fair, just and safe place for people seeking asylum.
‘Holding Kwoorabup’ opens today, Moores Building Art Space Fremantle. Eight artists from Butter Factory Studios Collective, Kwoorabup/Denmark WA are showing paintings, ceramics, textiles and installation. From 11-26 October, 10-3 daily.
With thanks to @cityoffremantle@fremantleartscentre

Gaza is starving. Israel, the USA, and other complicit countries including Australia are deliberately starving Palestinian men, women and children after relentlessly bombing them. Take meaningful urgent action @senatorpennywong@albomp .
The Northern Jarrah forest needs all the help it can get. These images and captions are from an excellent article in Pittsburgh Public Source, about US company Alcoa’s plans to strip mine the forest and Perth’s water source, to extract bauxite, for their profit.
Check out Ricky England’s Big Jarrah Walk fundraiser and protest at @bigjarrahwalk for ways to take action.

We’re still standing every week to say, to all the asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, who are now in danger after Labor’s gross cowardice and racism (and business as usual from LNP), that the majority of Australians see you, welcome you and want you to be fully part of the community. We are so very sorry. We will not give up.
Last week to see ‘Albany Weavers: Port to Port’ at WA Shipwrecks Museum gallery, Cliff St, Fremantle.
Open 9.30 - 5 every day. Final day is Sunday November 3.
Thank you to @wamuseum@crafttriennial@vancouver_arts
It’s nearly seven (7) years since we started the vigil for refugees in Denmark WA. It’s a disgrace that Labor continue the same punitive racist policies that Turnbull and Morrison inflicted so maliciously on people fleeing for their lives. Permanent visas, stability and justice are long overdue.

Coming soon! Albany Weavers are bringing an exhibition of their work to WA Shipwrecks Museum, Cliff St, Fremantle as part of IOTA24. The exhibition will be open every day, 9.30 - 5 from October 5 to November 3.
Shown is a detail of Steve Slack's hand-dyed wool and linen rug, woven in Collingwood's shaft-switching method.
Thanks to WA Museum, IOTA24 and Vancouver Arts Centre.
Two days left to see ‘Fragmented Memories’! Jane Ziemons & my show is ending this Thursday at Spectrum Project Space, ECU, Mt Lawley.
Jane is in the gallery today, and we’ll both be there tomorrow afternoon.
Many thanks to Danielle Fusco for her support, including putting the catalogue together, taking photos, hosting the artists’ conversation & doing lots of hard work in the background which made the whole experience delightful.
