back from our winter slumber, ether brings its signature exploration of bass-driven music to système for a special night celebrating the venue’s re-opening. curated and performed by the collective’s own @runydoo , @asha.tm , and @miasalav , the evening promises a blend of heavy low-end, rhythmic experimentation, and dancefloor-focused selections.

Deep Bass & Deep Connection
Runa and Asha are a duo originally from Toronto whose partnership is rooted in over 10 years of friendship. They are the founders of Ether with @miasalav , a collective centered around bass-forward and diasporic sounds; they're drawn to music that feels immersive, percussive, and emotionally resonant. Their selections often blur lines between genres, guided less by category and more by feeling.
"We decided to approach this mix as two halves of one shared feeling under the theme *Deep Bass & Deep Connection*. A kind of Side A / Side B format, Runa takes the first 30 minutes, Asha carries the last, distinct in voice, but rooted in the same emotional space."
In light of @runydoo who will be playing @puzzle_certified this Thursday at Barbossa, we have released an in depth interview and mix from Flip x Slut Island in October.
Live recording of Runa’s set from Slut Island x Flip (October) documents a set rooted in low-end pressure, dubby frequencies, rhythmic detail, and careful attention to the room. Moving fluidly across tempos and textures, the mix reflects her approach to DJing shaped by the specific time, space, and community in front of her. Speaking words on Parquette, Montreal’s beloved venue, we are excited to share this mix and interview from such a vibrant 24 hours at Slut Island x Flip.
