Ruchika Sachdeva, founder and creative director of Bodice, takes us through ID Salon at India Design ID 2026, pausing at pieces shaped by process, restraint and material intelligence.
In this walkthrough, she reflects on what makes the Salon feel distinct from the larger fair, why enduring design in 2026 must move beyond spectacle, and how collectible objects today are defined by authorship and integrity rather than excess.
From the one piece that stopped her in her tracks to the materials and tones she’s noticing this year, Ruchika shares a thoughtful lens on where Indian design is headed — and why the conversation around collectible design feels more relevant than ever.
Watch her decode the quiet power of ID Salon.

OUR IAF 2026 TOTES ARE HERE
Mayurbhanj Foundation × BODICE × India Art Fair
For IAF 2026, we’ve collaborated with the Mayurbhanj Foundation (@themayurbhanjfoundation ) and BODICE (@bodicebodice ) to create a thoughtfully crafted tote made using Futa—a traditional handwoven textile from Mayurbhanj, Odisha, recognised for its distinctive checks and stripes. Passed down through generations of tribal communities, Futa carries techniques shaped by time, labour, and collective memory.
This collaboration foregrounds generational art forms and the quiet, everyday act of making as a way of carrying stories, perspectives, and lived histories forward. Blending traditional weaving practices with BODICE’s pared-back visual language, each tote transforms the work of artisan collectives into a functional, wearable object.

RITES, a solo exhibition by Alida Sun - a code based artist and technologist opens tomorrow at Method Delhi.
For the exhibition, Alida’s hand coded artworks have been hand embroidered by the women at Swami Sivananda Memorial Institute of Fine Arts & Crafts (SSMI). The artworks are framed with repurposed e-waste (PCIe network cards) courtesy Karo Sambhav.
We’d like to thank Sanjana Rishi as the patron for the show platformimg female solidarity for women in science and arts. The preview is hosted by Ruchika Sachdeva which features a live coded a/v performance by Khoparzi.
Big shoutout to Simba, Greater Than and Sound Redefined for supporting the evening as well.
Final slide is Alida Sun’s daily somatic interactive audiovisual synesthesia ritual hand coded in C++ on a secondhand computer well over a decade old playing freely away from imperialist bloatware

Ruchika Sachdeva | Speaker at ID Symposium Mumbai 2025
Ruchika Sachdeva (@ruchikasachdeva ), founder of the New Delhi-based fashion label Bodice (@bodicebodice ), has become synonymous with a refined Indian aesthetic rooted in thoughtful design and modern sensibility. A graduate of the London College of Fashion, she launched Bodice with the vision of building a label could stand on the global presence while staying anchored in Indian roots. Acclaimed by global media from The New York Times to British Vogue to to Elle Japan to Forbes 30 Under 30, and as winner of the International Woolmark Prize, she balances cultural intelligence with timeless relevance while shaping conversations on design, sustainability, and craft on the world stage. At its core, Bodice is a commitment to conscious design and artisanship. With each collection reflecting a way of dressing that is pared back and resonant, the label continues to redefine what modern Indian fashion can be: minimal yet layered with meaning and global relevance.
Come and hear Ruchika Sachdeva’s talk at India Design ID Mumbai from September 26-27, 2025, at Jio World Garden, BKC, Mumbai.
