In our undergrad group show, I displayed this cyanotype triptych titled “Contemplating Water”. This piece was originally for my “Walking as an Art Practice” class, where we learned that walking and wandering can be research methods in creating art. This piece was based off a walk I had to the pier in town where I sat at the edge and stared at the wind as it blew across the surface of the water. I thought it was quite beautiful and the more I watched it the more I came up with stories in my head. So I wrote a poem about it, created an illustrated border, and experimented with the water heavy technique of cyanotype to create this piece. You can scroll to see my cyanotype negative, original graphite drawing, original poem ideation, and a video of the wind.

Last weekend’s opening of (UN)EARTHED: through air, tied to each other. Across installation, print, sculpture, and moving image, the exhibition traces entanglement in a world that refuses stillness. Part of Burren College of Art’s end-of-year exhibitions, with work unfolding across the gallery, studios, and Barn. Thank you to everyone who came through, stayed, listened, and looked closely. On view in the Main Gallery through April 24. Photographs by @drlisanewman #BurrenCollegeOfArt #MFAExhibition #ContemporaryArtIreland #ArtAndEcology #EmergingArtists

Looking back at the opening of Circulation(s) Festival at Centquatre-Paris ✨ @festival_circulations @104paris Starting with a few glimpses of the process — an incredible experience from the very beginning. Receiving over 1000 applications from across Europe and having the chance to dive firsthand into contemporary European photography all at once. What questions run through these works? How is photography evolving today? Without a fixed theme, the selection embraces diversity — in subjects, approaches, countries, and identities. This year, we were a team of 7 women curators plus the production director, shaping a final selection of 24 projects by 26 artists. And after the selection… so many steps. Imagining each artist’s scenography in dialogue with each one of them, building the overall exhibition design with the studio Bigtime @bigtime.studio , deciding how each work speaks to the others. And finally, the installation itself: 3 intense weeks of hard work alongside an incredible, mostly female volunteer team and lighting crew. We paint, pierce, glue, nail… A truly collective effort from start to finish — grounded in collaboration, care, and solidarity 💫

- ✨ Meeting(s) with Ruby Wallis Throughout the festival, discover the 24 projects presented this year at Circulation(s) through the artists’ voices. Since 2019, the festival has highlighted a particular emerging European photographic scene as part of its focus. Fuil Fréamh agus Lus Mór (Bloodroot and Foxglove) by Ruby Wallis This project can be seen this year at Circulation(s), which takes place from March 21 to May 17 in Paris, France. @rubywallis_com @festival_circulations "Fuil Fréamh & Lus Mór / Bloodroot & Foxglove was developed during my project at Lismore Castle Arts in 2025. The work was made through conversations and walks with International Protection Applicants, using plants as metaphors for belonging, healing, and connection. Many of the images were taken during a night walk with the group through Lismore Gardens, using disposable 35mm cameras. […]" On view on yogurtmagazine.com . . . . #contemporaryphotography #plants

Earlier this month, students from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) spent two weeks immersed in the Burren landscape as part of their residency at Burren College of Art. During their visit, faculty members Eileen Hutton and Ruby Wallis led a workshop exploring natural pigments dyes and anthotype processes using plant materials gathered from the local landscape. BCA students also worked alongside the visiting students, guiding them in foraging for natural materials and sharing knowledge developed through their own ecological research and studio practices. While the ecology of the Burren is specific to this place, the approaches explored here extend beyond it. Workshops like this become a quiet exchange between places, where what begins in the Burren continues to evolve through future experiments, materials, and landscapes elsewhere. Thank you to Eileen and Ruby for sharing their knowledge and practice. #BurrenCollegeOfArt #ArtAndEcology #NaturalDye #Cyanotype #StudyAbroad
