St. Brigid’s Shroud, 2024, antique velvet, cotton, wool, tapestry
This quilt is a memorial to the 98 Australian women who had lost their lives to violence as of mid December last year, as documented by @sherelemoodyfemicidewatch Each velvet piece represents a woman who died, while the floral tapestry symbolizes the women who are missing.
Looking to St. Brigid, a protector of women and the legend of her cloak, I made this quilt to serve as a reminder of the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence.
A recent commission for @charlotterigoni 💜 a birthday gift from @indented.head and friends! I am so happy with how this turned out- I think it might be my favourite quilt ever 👀👀👀
Double sized, so it’s BIG!!! It slowly came together over a few months this year, the colours and layout of the design make me so happy. Mostly solid linens, with a ladybird embroidered light denim and some really amazing graphic brown and white upholstery fabric for the edge. When I was photographing it, a ladybug landed on one of the pink linen blocks 🐞 which has to be a sign right? It’s also double-sided, the other side is a surprise for Charlotte to be revealed later this month, so she and you will have to wait to see it!

We had a wooly wonderful time at our workshop at the @nationalwoolmuseum making waggas!! We even found a four leafed clover on our way to the pub 💚 we had a tour of the exhibition there and then got to see waggas from the permanent collection- including our namesake, the world’a worst wagga 🩷🩷🩷 thanks to the wool museum and to everyone who came along!
