The serpent has a bit of bad rap these days- but it wasn’t always so…
A little history for ya- during the Victorian era serpents were a source of inspiration…reoccurring muses- featured in both jewelry and art- they provided the inspiration for some of the most famous pieces of the time. The serpent symbolized wisdom, protection, commitment, & the eternal cycles of life. Queen Victoria helped popularize the symbolism with her engagement ring, a gold snake with embedded rubies and emeralds, designed by price Albert himself in 1839.
They were really on to something…
It wasn’t until his death, that the tide began to turn and the serpent symbolism turned a bit more somber. Queen Victoria was heartbroken, and said to be inconsolable- she entered into an extended period of mourning, from which she never recovered. She chose to stay in mourning dress for all her remaining days.
This very public display of grief and was said to usher in a new more macab aesthetic which many of us are familiar with today…morning jewellery, and the Memento Morí symbolism that remain an inspiration in my work today

There are many reasons I’m not a big fan of AI- it’s partly the fear based marketing, or maybe the general disregard for the artistic process, or perhaps it’s the loss of original works pitched as optimization…
And it doesn’t help that it’s basically ruined cute animal videos for me for the foreseeable…which is pretty much reason enough 💀
But really…This really can’t be what we’re squandering our precious resources on…can it?
But beyond the theft of original works, and the uncertainly…is the fact that we simply don’t have the resources to support systems that consume THIS MUCH…THIS FAST. And for what, really? To help large corporations grow larger profit margins? To Replace ourselves?
What are we even doing? Are we ok?

Jessie, better known as @rubyandrevolver , is a jewelry maker based in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley.
Running everything from design to fabrication with Ruby and Revolver, she’s known for her elegant natural and elemental collections, with nearly every new release selling out overnight, if not much, much sooner. Her latest drop was no exception.
Aside from jewelry, Jessie, alongside her husband and daughter, have an animal sanctuary that’s ever evolving. From the animals and her family, to her artwork and the landscape she calls home, a tender love and care links everything together.

I has come to my attention, that while I announced my update in the newsletter- I forgot to mention it here. Sorry about that! Sooo - better late than never? Kind of a theme for me this week it seems. Anyways- I figured I’d show you what to expect in tonight’s update happening in just a couple hours (pm mountain time) It’s on the smaller side, as a lot of my inventory will be set aside for an upcoming show- I’ll share more about that later…but for now… here’s most of what I’ve got for ya this eve..plus a peak at a little collaboration I did with my talented friend, Beth @fieldfiveflowers (pop on over to her page if you’d like to see the beauty she creates- and snag a Seed Keeper locket for yourself, as well as a 2 day stay at @the.liora.house retreat and sauna)

This is possibly the most random carousel to date… a bit of bat rescue + and some jewelry? But it sort of sums up my life for the past few days…and I’m exhausted…here we are, bats and all.
CORE collection releases tomorrow 10:00 am, mountain time.
Includes the Folk flower necklace…and a pair of earrings or two…I’m offering smaller quantities on these guys, as they are quite time consuming and I just don’t want folks waiting ages for them. The idea here is limited quantities, but faster turn around times ;)

While I was hoping to have an update for you today, all I’ve got so far is a sick kiddo, some missed deadlines, a lot of computer work, and a sense of impending doom….😅🫠
I will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this sale to @earthjustice an organization you may have heard me mention before…
It’s a hard time to be human, to care about people…about animals…and about the planet and ALL who inhabit it…it’s hard to know what to prioritize. It’s hard not to spiral. Because the truth is…it all matters- So we do what we can individually and support the people who have organized to fight the systems that do harm. They’re effective, organized…and doing the good work of fighting tooth-and-nail to protect our home. Sometimes ya gotta outsource where ya can.
In other news. Plant a garden. Grow some food. Do art. Paint some eggs…call your reps…Connect….keep going.

Full disclosure. To my shame…I haven’t even announced the winner from my last giveaway yet.
Whoops.
My excuse is…life? We did have some shake ups/life changes…
But then there is the real issue- The simple fact that there was just so much goodness to choose from. So many meaningful, beautiful, heart wrenching…funny comments last time…i simply couldn’t pick just one. And although I use a random number generator to select- I started reading the comments…& they’re all so chock full of all of the feels. Pulling on all of the heart strings and all of the sudden I’m overwhelmed by the fact that there is so much goodness and only one pair of earrings and it all just feels wrong. (Why am I like this tho?) And then I simultaneously dropped of social media for much of February… and now…here we are. I’m going to do it this time. Perhaps giving two away will help soften the blow.
