#lifeupdate There was a time in my life and career where I had no clue how to survive as an artist or how to step into the world of artistry, label management, A&R, the artist life & its vulnerabilities. Burning queries all! The creative world felt like an enigma and controlled by gatekeepers. Hence we channelled and addressed all those challenges along with the growing emphasis on India's soft power that lies in its #orangeeconomy and creative equity towards a year's program in arts entrepreneurship. Glad to have contributed to the course curriculum as a subject matter expert and faculty listings with our tiny team of knowledgeable and kind humans for the flagship post graduate program launching at IIM, Mumbai. We are super excited to move ahead as the course commences in July 2026. Really hopeful with this brand new collaboration [IIM x KKALA]that is slated to bring about fruitful strategic outcomes for entrepreneurs in #artsleadership and artistic management. Indian underground black metal rarely goes this deep. Chennai’s DEMONOS @demonosofficial , the alter-ego of musician/curator @roydvanwinkle , unleashed "Polyhedra", a ritualistic slice of avant-garde occult black metal that feels less like a typical EP and more like a spiritual invocation. Raw guitars of Roy Dipankar, unsettling piano work from Rohit Raghupathy @rohit_raghupathy and the relentless drumming of Ananya Patil @ananya_blastphegor shape a sound that channels the fierce energy of Devi Kali and Durga into something hypnotic and confrontational. The title track pushes things further with guest appearances from Serpents of Pakhangba, @serpentsofpakhangba on guitar, co-arrangement, production and vocals, alongside Debapriya Chatterjee’s haunting voice that adds an eerie, almost shamanic dimension. Producer Tirthankar Ray @tiru.wav , @bluemonkinc made this EP atmospheric and beautifully divine black. This winter @bank.film.ab Sweden w the blessings of #SwedishFilmInstitute and @royvillemedia.film India deep dived into the interiors of West Bengal documenting sound and sound systems of different styles and makes aft months of planning. While researching on the machines we came across the men (and women) who accompany, hire, revel in the sound and collective festivities that occur during the post harvest season which is Poush Parbon or Sankranti or Pongal which is historically, emotionally, religiously significant for the agricultural community across the nation. While filming and during @roydvanwinkle 's numerous visits to the region, one particular tribe bears special mention - the #Murmu clan of the Santhals. Murmus are one of India's largest indigenous groups, residing mainly in Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, and West Bengal; they are known for their distinct culture, history of resistance (like the 1855 Santhal Rebellion), and increasing political representation, exemplified by India's first tribal President, Droupadi Murmu, (last slide) who belongs to this community. As quaint village hamlet chiefs, their kids and families gathered around the warmth of the vesper bonfires that are lit to signify progress, happiness of a rich harvest and good omens against demons, they shared with us, not only their stories but also food and drink, while the sound systems were set up to play all night in celebration. The clay and thatched walls of the houses vibrate with the bass, as the elders break into signature Santhal dance moves to the rhythm and higher frequencies of tribal beat and song played by the sound systems in the middle of the forest. An escape from an ever budening financial stress, political upheavals in the region, youth migration into mega cities looking for job opportunities, and caste struggles. What was also interesting to note was that the Santhals are very welcoming towards other religions. And while the music took a break, the children shared with us stories of forest wolves or jackals and foxes as we could hear not so distant choruses of the wild Indian coyotes howling into the night and at the moon. 🌝🌜🌛🌚

Finalized my journal of findings and research over the past few years 'Kaospheres' and submitted for peer reviews, cannot wait to share this paper with the world! Also big love to the people of Bengal whose obsession towards the sound-dek-bass phenomenon has led to crazier further bass-first frontiers which can only be experienced in being. This is almost a grotesque mutation of everything that is pop like - 90s Bollywood, folk, traditional - molding them into almost unrecognisable frequencies and a standalone sub genre.
