Incredible Sunday night at the @ri_science watching Zombie Ant Fungus: The Chemistry of Control - a performance that fused science, acting, music and dance in a mindblowing manner. Produced by my brilliant friend @briznicholls who runs Pestival and, as you can see, the after panel was chaired by the genius behind QI (and so much else) @johnlloydqi lots of mates in the audience including @aswulf@reversediorama@johncharles_iii@chattysalerton@melropercurzon
I had such a great time I chatting to the hilarious ballsy actress and writer (former glamour model) @keeleyhazell at the @althorplitfest about her memoir Everyone’s Seen My Tits, swipe to see the dedication she left in my copy. We laughed, we got a bit tearful… it was epic. As Keeley explained to the audience, her preferred look is quite librarian (chic). Wish I had a pic of @genevieve_gaunt who took the photos and asked the best question.
My brilliant conservationist friend @briznicholls the creative force behind Pestival and sage of all things insect and bat related is staging this at the RI on Sat 9 and Sunday 10 May. Just go to their website for tickets. Described as “a radical new performance blending neuroscience, mycology, sound and behaviour.” I’m going, come too!!! Will blow our tiny ant minds. 🐜
The firstborn is 22. One of his favourite expressions is “not going to lie”, so I feel compelled to say: not going to lie, I wish I had his eyelashes. Not going to lie, he makes me very proud. Not going to lie, I prefer photographs of him smiling (even if these are the only ones in existence). Not going to lie, he has a great talent for friendship. One of the greatest pleasures of being in your late 50s is the discovery you can still make epic friendships which rock your life. It’s been a wild rollercoaster of joy and literary enlightenment getting to know @reversediorama via @clareconville and @joannagrochowicz I’m unsure what element is more transporting, knowing him or reading him. Mayhem and magic travel in his wake. His new novel Boyhood conveys the energy, ecstasy and disruption, take a look at the reviews. Intense ambient William-Blake mystic-Britain vibes at the rammed launch of @reversediorama ‘s celebrated new novel Boyhood, where the author gave a reading that I somehow imagined flowing out of the @thesociallondon and into the bowels and eyries of London, before swooping north to Glasgow. According to the Times’ glowing review, there’s “moral seriousness” alongside “some outre sexual exploits, featuring turns of phrase that would make a pornographer blush”. I accept the challenge.
